Freddy Fazbear Is Finally Crashing ‘Fortnite’, and the First Teaser Has Fans Losing It

For years, a ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s‘ crossover with ‘Fortnite‘ felt like the ultimate gaming rumor that would never come true. Fans have been chasing leaks, fake thumbnails, and wishful speculation about the pairing seemingly forever.

The horror franchise has certainly earned its shot at the battle royale spotlight. Scott Cawthon’s series began on August 8, 2014, and has grown through a long list of entries, most recently ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic’ on June 13, 2025. Meanwhile, ‘Fortnite’ has spent this season leaning into a gaming theme with Chapter 7 Season 4, known as Override.

That long wait is now officially over. The first teaser for ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ coming to ‘Fortnite’ has arrived. After years of speculation, Epic Games confirmed the crossover in a new teaser trailer posted to its social media accounts.

The clip wastes no time setting the mood. The trailer opens with the iconic Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, which will likely become a major point of interest on the Chapter 7 Season 4 map. The 38-second teaser carries a Teen rating for violence, suggestive themes, and lyrics, and its neon-lit pizzeria sign glows ominously in the darkness.

Players won’t have to wait long. The crossover arrives on Thursday, October 1, 2026, launching alongside the major Fortnitemares update that drops the same morning. Fortnitemares goes live once downtime for update v42.30 ends.

This year’s Halloween event already has a fitting identity. Epic revealed the official slogan “The Game Is Cursed,” matching the gaming-themed Override season. Chapter 7 Season 4 runs until October 31, so the spooky festivities should last most of the month.

The cosmetics are a major highlight. Skins for Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy are confirmed, each featuring Withered styles, along with themed Jam Tracks, Kicks and more. According to leaker HYPEX, the skins will be reactive, with Bonnie and Freddy shown missing parts of their faces after being hit with a Pickaxe.

There’s also a tease of something even bigger. The trailer shows what could be a mode where players survive a night shift at the pizzeria while animatronics attack them, though Epic hasn’t officially confirmed it. In one moment, a player even turns into Chica after sneaking up on her with a Pickaxe.

Fans had already spotted clues on the map. A FNAF-style construction site already present in Chapter 7 Season 4 kept attention on a possible Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza transformation. Some reports also point to the Arcade Landmark near The Battlewoods as a likely staging ground.

Freddy and friends won’t be the only guests this October. This year’s event is set to feature collabs including ’99 Nights in the Forest’, ‘Black Clover’ and WWE star Danhausen. Additional teasers have also hinted at potential crossovers with Freddy Krueger, Slender Man, Betelgeuse and the ‘Predator’ franchise.

With so many horror icons rumored to join, Epic appears determined to make this Halloween one of its biggest. Still, the FNAF crossover is easily the one fans have been demanding the longest.

The community reaction has been a mix of relief and celebration. One popular reply under DiscussingFilm’s post joked that the era of FNAF-in-‘Fortnite’ clickbait is finally over, capturing the sentiment of countless players who waited years for real confirmation.
