Lego Grants ‘Dragon Ball’ Fans Their Wish With a Shenron & Goku Set That Finally Makes the Jump to Bricks

Anime fans have spent years asking when a major franchise would get the LEGO treatment it deserves. Few properties have been on collectors’ wish lists as long as ‘Dragon Ball’, the series whose whole premise revolves around gathering magical orbs to make a single dream come true. Now the LEGO Dragon Ball era is officially here.

The irony is hard to miss. A franchise built on wishes has finally had one of its own granted, and LEGO clearly knows the poetry of the moment. The brand’s marketing leans directly into the series’ most famous scene.

LEGO Japan’s official account posted a teaser video that has already gone viral. The caption, translated from Japanese, reads like a line from the dragon himself: “Come on, voice your wish. Any wish at all. Just one. I’ll grant it for you.” It then adds that the adventure with LEGO ‘Dragon Ball’ begins here.

The post confirms the set is Dragon Ball Shenron & Son Goku, product number 11390, with a release date of November 4. The clip shows glowing energy washing over green bricks, a fitting tease for a dragon that appears in a burst of light. Early access is a different story, since LEGO Insiders can reportedly get the set on November 1, with the wider release following 3 days later.

The LEGO Icons set is aimed at adults and contains 1,764 pieces. It retails for £129.99, $179.99, or €139.99, and it is sold exclusively through LEGO.com and LEGO Stores. Shenron sits in a coiled pose on a black base alongside all 7 Dragon Balls, built with advanced techniques that reportedly set it apart from previous LEGO dragon sets.

The head and claws are adjustable, so collectors can tweak the display to their liking. The base also carries the original manga logo, a nod to where the series began. The set’s other headline act is Goku himself. Based on his younger appearance, he arrives as the character’s first-ever LEGO minifigure, complete with his tail, Power Pole, and Flying Nimbus. The cloud detaches, so he can zoom beside Shenron or stand next to the dragon.

He also debuts a brand-new hair sculpt, which LEGO designed to serve future Dragon Ball minifigures. That detail matters because Goku is the only minifigure in the box, a small letdown for some fans. Stonewars pointed out the same disappointment in its coverage.

The set also reads as a statement about the series’ roots. Because Goku appears as a kid and the logo matches the original manga, the debut leans into the early adventures rather than the Saiyan battles that came later.

Blocks Magazine reports that this is the first set in a new partnership, with more models on the way. Rumors have been circulating for some time that a full ‘Dragon Ball’ theme with play sets could arrive next year, though LEGO hasn’t detailed those plans in the material announced so far.

For now, this display piece is the flagship. If the reaction to LEGO Japan’s teaser is any indication, with thousands of likes and shares in a matter of hours, the appetite for more is already enormous.
