‘Wednesday’ Wraps Filming on the Third Season With a Moody New Look at Jenna Ortega

Few shows have turned a gothic teenager into a global phenomenon quite like ‘Wednesday‘. Since it debuted on Netflix in 2022, the Addams Family spinoff has become a pop culture staple, and its lead performance earned critical acclaim. Fans have been waiting anxiously for news about what comes next.

The series follows Wednesday Addams as she navigates life at Nevermore Academy, solving mysteries and clashing with authority along the way. That mix of dark humor and supernatural intrigue has kept audiences hooked through every wait between seasons. Now, there is finally a big update to celebrate.

On September 30, many outlets shared a new look at ‘Wednesday’ Season 3 on X, noting that filming has now wrapped. Netflix announced the milestone the same day, releasing a new image to mark the occasion.

The photo shows Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday sitting in profile at a wooden desk, writing on her typewriter under a warm lamp. She wears her signature black-and-white look, and the dim, moody lighting makes the whole frame feel like a scene from a gothic novel. TheWrap described her as sitting stone-faced in typical fashion.

The announcement arrived earlier than some had expected. What’s on Netflix noted that reports had suggested filming would run into mid-October, and that wrap dates had shifted from the end of May to the end of August before filming persisted through September. Some crew members were reportedly still on set on wrap day, leaving open the possibility that only the main cast had finished.

According to TheWrap, the third season spent 7 months filming in Dublin, Ireland. Production moved there for the second season after the first was shot in Romania. Entertainment Now reported that cameras began rolling on February 16.

The production also traveled beyond Ireland. Earlier set photos showed filming in Paris, with Netflix releasing a still of Wednesday beside a motorcycle beneath the Eiffel Tower alongside Thing, played by Victor Dorobantu. Set sightings also placed Ortega with director Tim Burton and co-star Fred Armisen near the Seine.

The cast for the new season is stacked. Bloody Disgusting noted that Burton praised the addition of longtime collaborators including Winona Ryder, Eva Green, and others, while he is also reunited with the original cast. Eva Green plays Aunt Ophelia, and Lena Headey is among the newcomers, though many roles remain undisclosed.

Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar previously teased that the season will welcome new students and teachers while digging into long-buried Addams family secrets. They also promised more Addams relatives and a deeper look at the characters. Ortega, who serves as an executive producer, has hinted that the new episodes will explore a different side of the characters.

Don’t expect it for Halloween this year. Bloody Disgusting reports that the series is expected to return in 2027, and Netflix has not announced a premiere date. That leaves plenty of time for speculation about plot details, which remain tightly under wraps.

Fans have also grown wary of long gaps between seasons of streaming shows. Even so, a wrap announcement marks the first concrete sign that the next chapter is moving toward completion. Post-production will now take over, and Netflix will presumably start dropping teasers as the release window approaches.

For now, the typewriter image gives audiences something to hold onto. It suggests a story that leans into Wednesday’s writerly instincts and her taste for shadows. The wait may be long, but the promise of new secrets, new faces, and old favorites should keep the Nevermore fandom busy.
