‘Avengers: Doomsday’ New Poster Puts Doctor Doom in His Glowing Latverian Throne Room, and Fans Can’t Stop Talking About His Witches
Marvel Studios has kept fans on a steady stream of cryptic teases as ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ heads toward its December release. Nearly every piece of marketing has leaned into ominous imagery of Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, making the villain’s true motives one of the biggest mysteries in the MCU right now.
That focus has been intentional from the start. After a poster arrived following Marvel’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Bleeding Cool noted the studio had so far stuck to a pattern of focusing only on Doom, and an earlier poster showed him gazing at a huge tapestry depicting a woman and child above a cloudy planet.
Now a new ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ poster has raised the stakes. First revealed ahead of San Diego Comic-Con Málaga, which runs from October 1 to 4 in Spain, the artwork has now been shared in HD on X, showing Doom walking down the steps of his throne while 3 masked figures stand behind him beneath a towering, glowing green stained glass window.
The poster is soaked in eerie green light, with lit braziers lining the staircase and tall glowing windows framing the throne room. The hooded Doom walks toward the viewer as the figures loom in the shadows behind him.
The bottom of the poster carries the Marvel Studios logo along with the date 12.18.26, the film’s release day. The international version circulating from Málaga used the film’s Spanish title, ‘Vengadores: Doomsday’. Fans have clearly been eager to see it up close.

The 3 mysterious figures have quickly become the main talking point. The fan account drdoomarchive excitedly called them Doom’s Latverian witches, and early reports described the trio wearing green, purple, and orange costumes.
That has sparked plenty of theories. Fans have speculated that Scarlet Witch, Clea, or Sylvie could be among them, and Comic Book Movie reported that in the official release, one of the witches now appears to be wearing scarlet.
Whether they turn out to be witches, loyal subjects, or something else entirely, the poster has done exactly what it set out to do. Every new image of Latveria adds fuel to theories about Doom’s grand plan. This isn’t the first glimpse fans have had of Doom’s seat of power.
Earlier this year, Doom’s throne room was recreated alongside the X-Mansion for an ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ display in Shanghai, and the throne matched leaked photos of Downey Jr.’s Doom that were previously dismissed as AI-generated. The exclusive Comic-Con trailer also reportedly opened with Doom seated on that imposing throne. Taken together, these teases suggest Latveria will be a major setting in the film.
Doom also appears to be gathering powerful allies. New post-credits scenes from ‘Avengers: Endgame: Encore’ showed him bringing Bruce Banner into his ranks, and co-director Joe Russo has said Banner is involved in the story revolving around Doom.
Meanwhile, the film’s massive ensemble includes Captain America, Thor, Cyclops, Sue Storm, The Thing, and Black Panther, according to promo art that surfaced via a Ravensburger puzzle listing. Loki is also confirmed, and earlier teasers featured Doom telling the Avengers they’ve been living stolen lives.

Screen Rant has argued that Doom’s imagery fits the popular theory that he’s seeking to create a new world he can shape to his own desires. With the poster’s grand, almost religious atmosphere, that idea feels more plausible than ever. With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ arriving on December 18, Marvel still has a couple of months to reveal more. For now, the Latverian witches have handed fans their newest mystery.
Who do you think the 3 mysterious figures behind Doctor Doom are?
