Marvel Takes Over Spain as a New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Promo Reportedly Films With the Latverian Witches
Spain has quickly become one of the busiest hubs of Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ marketing machine. San Diego Comic-Con Málaga is taking place this weekend, and the studio has turned the European convention into a showcase for Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. Now, the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ promo push in Spain appears to be stretching well beyond the convention floor.
Marvel’s presence at the event has been hard to miss. A large themed tent near Málaga’s Palacio de Ferias features a yellow backdrop, the logos of the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Wakanda, and a huge image of Doctor Doom alongside the film’s title. Inside, the booth includes a large Avengers “A” logo on a stone platform, glowing green panels, a Thor’s hammer prop, and Captain America’s shield embedded in a textured wall.
The latest buzz comes from a fan-shared video. On October 3, fan accounts reported that a new promo featuring the Latverian Witches and Doombots is being filmed in Spain; they also began sharing short clips on X.
The footage shows an ancient stone amphitheater bathed in eerie green light, with a lone figure standing among the ruins. On-screen text asks whether Dr. Doom is coming to Comic-Con Málaga. Marvel has not officially commented on the shoot, so details remain unconfirmed for now.
The convention’s organizers have been keeping fans guessing as well. Comic-Con Málaga general director Fernando Piquer told 101TV that he isn’t closing the door to anything when asked about a possible major ‘Doomsday’ surprise.

The Latverian Witches have quickly become one of the campaign’s biggest mysteries. A new international poster being handed out at the convention shows Doom in his throne room with 3 masked witches standing beside him on a staircase, with his castle looming in the background.
They’ve already appeared in footage, too. The film’s ScreenX trailer, released in late September, offered a first glimpse of one of the witches kneeling before Doom. Spanish outlet 3DJuegos noted that this confirmed audiences are looking at an entire coven rather than a single sorceress.
Naturally, theories are running wild. Some fans believe the witches could be versions of Sylvie, Clea, or Cynthia von Doom, Victor’s mother in the comics. Scooper James Mack has claimed that only one of the witches will reveal her face, and that she’ll be disguised as Peggy Carter, though that remains unverified.

The witches are only part of Doom’s forces. Hall H footage at San Diego Comic-Con showed him seated on his throne in full armor and commanding an army of Sentinels. More recently, Marvel released a theater PSA opening with Doom ordering the Sentinels to rise in a storm-swept wasteland.
The tease extends to the ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ re-release as well, where 3DJuegos notes a post-credits scene shows Doom kidnapping Hulk. Each new piece of marketing suggests a villain assembling an increasingly dangerous team. The promotional rollout shows no signs of slowing down.
According to Mexican outlet Excélsior, the studio plans to release the first full trailer online in November, ahead of the film’s December 18 release. If the green-lit shoot in Spain is any indication, Marvel still has plenty of tricks up its sleeve before Doom arrives in theaters.
