‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has been one of the biggest movie events of the year. The film became the highest-grossing movie in domestic box office history and now ranks among the top 3 highest-grossing films of all time worldwide.

Now the blockbuster is coming home. ‘Brand New Day’ is available to buy or rent digitally from October 6, and the release has brought a wave of behind-the-scenes material that gives fans a fresh look at how the film was made.

One featurette clip has already gone viral. In footage shared online on October 6, Tom Holland is seen on set filming Spider-Man’s near-death scene, and he jokes that it’s fine because he has already made 4 movies.

The clip shows Holland in the Spider-Man suit standing in a wrecked, debris-filled set as crew members kneel nearby. It’s a stark contrast to the emotional weight of the scene itself, which became one of the most powerful moments of Holland’s run as the web-slinger.

In the film, Peter is gravely wounded by a shot from Frank Castle, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, who then carries him to a hospital. The scene left audiences wondering if Peter would survive. A little humor on set makes sense when filming something that intense. Fans online loved the moment, with one joking that Holland will surely be back for 4 more movies.

Holland’s joke carries real weight. With ‘Brand New Day’, he became the first actor to play a live-action Spider-Man in 4 solo films, following ‘Homecoming’, ‘Far From Home’ and ‘No Way Home’. His Peter Parker has also appeared in ‘Captain America: Civil War’, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’. ‘No Way Home’ alone earned $1.9 billion worldwide.

‘Brand New Day’ picks up 4 years after that film, with the world having forgotten Peter Parker’s existence. Destin Daniel Cretton directed it from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

The shoot produced plenty of headlines. Sony marked the first day of filming in Glasgow with a video of Holland performing a stunt on top of a tank, revealing it was the first time fans had ever been on set for day one.

Production hit a bump in September 2025 when Holland suffered a mild concussion on the Pinewood set in London. Filming paused for about a week as a precaution, and Holland later told fans he was feeling better and on the mend. The team also returned for additional photography in London. Holland told GQ the new scenes added more humor and layered in a villain plotline in a new way.

Holland was joined by Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman. Mark Ruffalo returned as Bruce Banner, Bernthal reprised Frank Castle, and Michael Mando returned as Mac Gargan, aka Scorpion.

With the digital release now available and physical copies arriving on November 17, more behind-the-scenes moments are likely to surface. Some fans are even hoping the near-death footage turns up in a rumored re-release of the film.
