Netflix ‘Inside the Circle’ Ending Explained: Jaime’s Betrayal and the Threats Still Waiting

Created by Alejandro Lozano, Netflix’s ‘Inside the Circle,’ also known as ‘El círculo’ in the original Spanish, follows four friends whose lives are turned upside down after the mysterious death of an actress. The thriller adapts Jorge Zepeda Patterson’s novel ‘Los corruptores,’ and by the end the threats emerge from within the circle just as much as from the outside.

The series premiered on Netflix on October 7 and streams in more than 190 countries. The ‘Inside the Circle’ ending recasts what looks like a political conspiracy as a far more personal betrayal, and it leaves several threads deliberately open. Here is what the finale reveals and what it sets up.

Who Killed Pamela Dosantos in the ‘Inside the Circle’ Ending

The finale reveals that the person behind Pamela Dosantos’ murder is Jaime, who acted for both personal and professional reasons. He always knew Pamela was a spy for the Northern Cartel, and her ties to his father and to General Salazar made her useful to his larger political gambles. Jaime had her tortured and killed in a manner reminiscent of cartel killings so that her death would become a national story.

Jaime then fed the news to Tomas by pretending to be the informant Villanueva, expecting it to corner Salazar and bring down his contact. He never expected Tomas to become the centerpiece of the story, and he used his own enforcers to scare his friend into submission. That pressure only deepened Tomas’ determination to find the truth.

Tomas realizes the timeline cannot hold when a pathologist confirms the informant could not have sent him a video only a week earlier. Things fall into place when he learns the men who kidnapped Viri and Jime were Jaime’s employees, who did not know the two girls were connected to their boss. One miscommunication exposes the man he trusted most.

Jaime’s Betrayal and the Northern Cartel Fallout

According to The Cinemaholic’s reading, Jaime was not driven by simple malice. Ever since he cut ties with his family, his actions have revolved around foiling his father. The cost of that campaign is what the finale makes clear. A scheme meant to damage a rival ends up endangering everyone Jaime loves.

In the closing moments Jaime receives a call from Lombardo, his Northern Cartel contact, who tells him the cartel has decided not to accept his offer. The contact makes it clear that Jaime is a dead man walking, and the cartel also knows about his friends and family. The restaurant shootout from earlier in the season now looks like a preview.

The reason for the cartel’s anger surfaces earlier, when Tomas discovers that Pamela was the sister of one of the cartel heads. The ending is somewhat open, and it indicates that although the immediate threat is neutralised, a bigger threat looms over the friends. Jaime’s way out appears to require a sacrifice he may not be willing to make.

Why Salazar Dies and Who Commander Lara Is

Salazar takes his life after reading Tomas’ exposé about Pamela and the Northern Cartel, which details how she gathered information from him, including his secret deals with neighboring nations. With the President unlikely to empower him further, Salazar would probably have been removed and discharged from the military. He chooses to end things on his own terms.

His last order as a general is a handwritten note to Commander Lara, asking him to continue as planned and see things through to the end. This introduces a new figure at the last minute, which confirms that a large part of the story is still untold. It is a familiar thriller device, but it works because it shifts the danger away from one man and toward an institution.

In the final scene Lara appears, and the visual cues suggest he knows the truth about Pamela and the wider political conspiracy. The military may not have received the boost it wanted, yet it remains among the most powerful forces in the country, which gives Tomas one more foe to worry about. The exposé did not end the conspiracy so much as change its leadership.

Amelia, Tomas, Mario and a Possible Second Season

Amelia and Tomas do not officially become a couple by the end of the first season, but the romantic spark between them has not faded. Jaime still carries unspoken feelings for Amelia and never manages to confess them, which sets up a complicated triangle. The friendship at the center of the show now carries a romantic fault line as well.

Mario’s arc stalls in the finale, and he does not pick up when Carmen calls because he feels guilty about cheating on his wife. The show leaves all four friends on an uncertain note, with the only assurance being that more trouble is headed their way. It is a quieter ending for Mario, though it hints that his suppressed desires will surface eventually.

The open ending suggests a second season is a possibility. Another outlet likewise calls renewal highly likely given how the first season concludes. If the series returns, Jaime’s secret and Lara’s plans will be the obvious pressure points, so do you think Tomas can forgive Jaime once he fully understands what his oldest friend did to Pamela and to the group?
