’Pretty Little Liars’ Star Keegan Allen Says Masked Robbers Took His Rolex at Gunpoint in West Hollywood

For years, Keegan Allen was the brooding heart of one of television’s most twisted teen mysteries. The actor played Toby Cavanaugh in a recurring role across 90 episodes of ‘Pretty Little Liars’ between 2010 and 2017, and the part was originally meant to be short-lived, since the character is killed off in one of the books, but fans loved Toby so much that he stayed.

Away from the cameras, Allen’s story has always been tied to Los Angeles. He grew up in LA just off the Sunset Strip, and he has long carried his late father’s Leica, which was passed down to him when he was 10. His father, Phillip Richard Allen, was a successful character actor who died in 2012.

That familiar stretch of the city turned frightening on Thursday night. Allen says he was robbed at gunpoint and knifepoint outside a grocery store on October 8, and he posted a graphic clip late that night, his face covered in blood as he described the attack.

“I was just robbed of my watch outside Laurel Supply,” the actor said in the video he shared on Instagram. The 37-year-old said he was confronted by 2 men in the 8400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, near Holloway Drive, outside the popular grocery store and eatery.

According to Allen, the pair hit him in the head, pointed a gun at him while also wielding a knife, and then fled. The robbers reportedly struck him multiple times but escaped with only the watch, leaving behind his bracelet and ring, and he later added that the stolen piece was his Rolex.

He also posted what appears to be surveillance video of the confrontation. In his caption, Allen wrote that the 2 young men had threatened to kill him over the watch, making it clear just how close the encounter came to ending far worse.

Responding to comments on the post, Allen confirmed that he went to the hospital and said he was “def concussed”. He also reassured followers that he would be “OK”, and fans and friends rushed to express their shock and support.

The actor didn’t stop at an update on his health. He warned that “West Hollywood is not safe anymore”, and appeared to direct criticism at Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom, writing that he hoped the Flock cameras officials believe will stop crime “can find these very dangerous criminals.”

Those cameras are already a fixture of the city. West Hollywood has 39 Flock Safety license plate readers and 6 live-video cameras, according to a city report, intended to help police track suspects and solve crimes. The system has also raised concerns over the possibility that surveillance data could be shared with ICE to locate immigrants.

For now, the case remains open. No arrests have been made, and detailed descriptions of the suspects were not available, leaving Allen and his followers waiting to see whether the footage he shared leads anywhere.

The scare comes after a busy stretch for the actor following his years in Rosewood. He played Liam Walker on ‘Walker’ from 2021 to 2024, and most recently appeared in an episode of ‘The Rookie’ earlier this year. On ‘Walker’, his character was Cordell Walker’s younger brother Liam, an Assistant DA.

Do you think more surveillance cameras can help prevent violent robberies like the one Keegan Allen describes?
