Doctor Doom’s New ‘Magic: The Gathering’ Card Gives Fans a First Look at the Latverian Witches of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Doctor Doom has been dominating more than just the Marvel Cinematic Universe lately. Since Marvel’s crossover set with ‘Magic: The Gathering’ arrived in late June, the ruler of Latveria has become one of the game’s headline figures, with his ‘Doctor Doom, King of Latveria’ card fronting the ‘Doom Prevails’ Commander deck, reportedly the most popular precon in the set.
His influence has even rippled through the card market. One ‘Doctor Octopus’ card reportedly jumped close to 400% in value within days, thanks to how well it pairs with Doom.
All of that is building toward Doom’s long-awaited MCU arrival. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to hit theaters on December 18, with Anthony and Joe Russo directing and Robert Downey Jr. stepping into the role of Victor von Doom after more than a decade as Tony Stark.
Now, Wizards of the Coast has shared a new look at a promo version of the card that ties directly into the film. The artwork shows Doom in his dark armor and flowing green cloak, flanked by mysterious robed figures wearing metallic masks, described as the Latverian Witches.

The card is marked as a promo, with art credited to Jorge Molina. It carries the collector number P 0001 and features a moody green and gold color palette that makes Doom look every bit the imposing monarch.
Gameplay-wise, this is the same Doom players already know from the Commander deck. He’s a Legendary Creature with the Human Noble Villain type, a 3/3 body, and a mana cost combining generic, blue, black, and red mana.
His abilities lean into disruption. Whenever you discard one or more land cards, each opponent loses 2 life, and at the beginning of combat on your turn, a target Villain you control gains menace until the end of the turn and connives.
That conniving mechanic lets the creature draw a card, then discard a card, and if the discarded card isn’t a land, it gets a +1/+1 counter. It’s a fitting design for a villain who always seems to be scheming several moves ahead.
The promo appears to be the exclusive card that Regal Cinemas announced earlier this year. Regal Crown Club members can claim a ‘Doctor Doom, King of Latveria’ promo by seeing ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ in Infinity Vision during opening weekend, from December 17 to December 20.

There’s a catch for eager collectors, though. The giveaway runs only while supplies last, so fans hoping to snag one will need to move quickly. When Regal first revealed the promotion, the card’s art, color identity, and rules text were still a mystery.
This new image finally answers those questions, and it gives moviegoers a physical souvenir tied to one of the year’s most anticipated releases. This isn’t the only special version of Doom making the rounds. A Marvel Legends Doctor Doom 2099 action figure also comes with an exclusive foil promo of the same card, numbered P0003 and illustrated by a different artist.
Considering how popular Doom has become with players, these alternate versions are likely to attract plenty of attention from collectors. With Downey’s Doom set to battle a sprawling lineup that includes Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby, the hype around Latveria’s king is only getting louder.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will also lead into ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, scheduled for December 17, 2027. If the card and its Latverian Witches are any indication, Doom’s grip on the MCU is about to get a whole lot stronger.
