Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan Turn Rivals in the Tense First Trailer for Apple TV’s ‘12 12 12′
There’s something irresistible about a good heist story, from the meticulous planning to the moment everything inevitably goes sideways. Apple TV is leaning into that appeal with ’12 12 12′, a heist drama starring Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan, and the streamer has been steadily building anticipation for the thriller over the past few months. A short teaser landed back in August, giving viewers an early glimpse of the duo sharing the screen.
The pairing isn’t brand new, either. Mackie and Dornan previously co-starred in ‘Synchronic’, playing paramedics investigating a string of strange deaths linked to a designer drug. The new series also reunites Mackie with director Kari Skogland, who he worked with on ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’.
Now the wait for a proper look is over. Apple TV unveiled the first trailer for ’12 12 12′ on October 13, offering a fuller taste of the cat-and-mouse dynamic at the heart of the show. The footage sets up an action-packed game between the 2 leads, both of whom also serve as executive producers.
The story follows a disgraced FBI agent, played by Mackie, and an American career criminal, played by Dornan, as they face off across Europe in a zero-sum game. It all builds toward a massive raid on a bank vault buried deep beneath the streets of Zurich.
What sets the series apart from a standard crime caper is its structure. Every episode unfolds across 3 timelines of the heist: the 12 months of planning, the 12 hours of the job itself, and the 12 days that follow it. That gives the show its distinctive title and promises a puzzle-box approach to storytelling, with the before, during, and after of the robbery playing out side by side.

The format suggests audiences will be piecing together what really happened alongside the characters. For a genre built on misdirection, splitting the narrative this way could make for plenty of twists along the way.
Mackie and Dornan aren’t carrying the show alone. The ensemble also includes Jack Kesy, known for ‘Hellboy: The Crooked Man’, Agathe Rousselle from ‘Titane’, Sallie Harmsen from ‘Blade Runner 2049’, José Garcia from ‘Now You See Me’, and Emmy nominee Kali Reis from ‘True Detective’.
It’s an eclectic, international lineup that fits a story spanning multiple European locations. Rousselle in particular brings an interesting edge, given the striking reputation of ‘Titane’ as a festival favorite.

The series was created by Dudi Appleton and Jim Keeble, who also serve as executive producers. Skogland directs several episodes, including the pilot, and is an executive producer as well.
Mackie is producing through his Make It With Gravy banner, alongside Samantha Corbin-Miller, David Knoller and Jason Spire for Inspire Entertainment. The project is produced by Paramount Television Studios and Anonymous Content.

Both stars arrive with solid credentials. Mackie is an Emmy nominee recently seen in ‘Twisted Metal’, while Dornan is a Golden Globe nominee who led ‘The Tourist’. The 8-episode drama premieres globally on Friday, November 13, with its first 2 episodes dropping at once. After that, a new episode will arrive every Friday, with the run wrapping up on December 25.
That schedule means the finale lands right on Christmas Day, which could make the final payoff an intriguing holiday watch for thriller fans. With a slick premise, a familiar on-screen pairing, and a structure designed to keep viewers guessing, Apple TV clearly has high hopes for this one.
