For an entire generation of moviegoers, ‘The Mummy’ remains the gold standard of swashbuckling adventure. The 1999 film, directed by Stephen Sommers, turned Brendan Fraser’s Rick O’Connell and Rachel Weisz’s Evelyn into one of the most beloved on-screen duos of the era, and it was followed by ‘The Mummy Returns’ in 2001 and ‘The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor’ in 2008.

Weisz only appeared in the first sequel, so fans have waited more than 2 decades to see the pair together again. That wait finally ended when Universal confirmed a fourth film with both stars returning, with Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the duo behind ‘Ready or Not’ and the 2022 ‘Scream’ revival, set to direct.

Now fans have their first glimpse of the iconic couple side by side. New set photos show Fraser and Weisz together during filming on ‘The Mummy 4’, sharing smiles and what appears to be a playful, affectionate moment between takes.

Weisz wears a tailored burgundy skirt suit cinched with a belt, her hair pulled back into an elegant bun. Fraser sports a brown jacket over a plaid shirt and jeans, grinning broadly as the two pose together in a period street setting.

Production on the legacy sequel kicked off in early September 2026, with cameras rolling across England. Earlier set photos captured Weisz filming separately outside the British Museum in London, back in costume as the Egyptologist turned action heroine.

Fraser, meanwhile, was spotted at a former military base in Suffolk, driving a silver-and-red rocket car in what appeared to be a record-speed trials scene. He wore a leather jacket and a vintage helmet, channeling the adventurous spirit that made the original such a hit.

The costumes and sets point to a 1950s post-war Britain setting, at least for the film’s early scenes. That would track with the franchise’s timeline, as the 1999 film was set in 1926, ‘The Mummy Returns’ in 1933, and ‘Tomb of the Dragon Emperor’ in 1946.

Fraser is now 57, and Weisz is 56, and seeing them return to these characters has sparked a wave of nostalgia online. Many fans have been sharing side-by-side comparisons of the cast then and now.

Fraser and Weisz aren’t the only originals returning. John Hannah is back as Evelyn’s older brother Jonathan, while Arnold Vosloo returns as Imhotep, and Oded Fehr also rejoins the franchise.

That level of reunion suggests the new film is leaning heavily into what made the original trilogy so beloved. For longtime fans, it feels like a genuine homecoming. The project caps an extraordinary career resurgence for Fraser. After stepping away from Hollywood for a time, he won the Oscar for best actor for his role in 2022’s ‘The Whale’.

Fraser has also spoken about what made the original work, suggesting that a sense of fun was the key ingredient missing from Universal’s 2017 reboot starring Tom Cruise. He believes ‘The Mummy’ should feel like a thrill ride rather than something purely terrifying.

‘The Mummy 4’ is set to hit theaters on October 15, 2027. With filming progressing and set photos continuing to surface, excitement is only growing for the long-awaited reunion. Seeing Rick and Evy side by side again is exactly the kind of moment fans have been hoping for. If the chemistry in these photos is any sign, the magic is still very much intact.
