The next episode of ‘Scrubs’ is set for Wednesday, October 21, according to a season schedule from Reelgood that lists it as the fifth entry in the current run. The previous installment, “My Chief,” aired on October 14, and it left J.D. weighing whether to report a costly mistake made by Turk.

Anyone planning to catch the fifth episode of ‘Scrubs’ will find that the revival has settled into a steady weekly rhythm on ABC, with streaming following close behind. This guide covers the date, the air time, the streaming options and what the network has said about the story ahead.

‘Scrubs’ Release Date and Where the Season Stands

The season began on Wednesday, September 30, with a two episode premiere made up of “My First Time in a While” and “My Mentee.” The third episode, “My Ex’s Ex,” followed on October 7, and “My Chief” arrived a week later.

Reelgood’s episode list places the following installment on October 21 and the one after it on October 28. That later episode is titled “My Halloween.”

The season runs ten episodes instead of the nine that made up the first, and the finale is expected to reach Hulu on Thanksgiving. The opening two episodes drew 11.36 million viewers across ABC, Hulu, Disney+ and other digital platforms in five days. ABC renewed the revival in April after the first season had finished airing.

Fans who need to catch up can revisit the first run, which aired on ABC from February 25 through April 15. That nine episode season averaged 8.70 million viewers according to the series’ episode table.

‘Scrubs’ Air Time on ABC

New episodes air on Wednesdays on ABC at 8 p.m. Eastern as part of the network’s fall schedule. The show’s official social account has promoted the slot as 8 p.m. Eastern and 7 p.m. Central.

After the double premiere, the rest of the season is expected to roll out weekly, with one episode landing each Wednesday. The revival is a 30 minute comedy, so viewers should plan for a single half hour rather than the back to back format of opening night.

Aseem Batra serves as executive producer and showrunner, with original creator Bill Lawrence also executive producing. Mike Royce joined as an executive producer for this season, while writer Mathew Harawitz and director Michael Spiller were promoted to executive producers. That lineup shows how the production team has widened since the first run.

Where to Watch ‘Scrubs’ on Hulu and Disney+

Episodes are available to stream on Hulu the Thursday after they first air on ABC. They also stream on Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers.

Viewers without cable can watch ABC through live TV services such as YouTube TV and DirecTV, while Hulu offers episodes the day after broadcast for a monthly subscription fee. That gives fans two clear routes depending on whether they prefer to watch live or on their own schedule.

Availability differs outside the United States. Reelgood’s guides say Canadian viewers can watch with a Disney+ subscription. For the United Kingdom and Australia, the guides report that the season began on Disney+ on October 1, with the first two episodes released together.

Preview of “My Best Friend’s Birthday” and What Comes Next

In the upcoming episode, Turk is determined to have a fun birthday with J.D. and Elliot, while the interns face a challenge during the night shift. The mentoring theme carried over from the first season, which pairs the veterans with a fresh group of interns, so the night shift storyline fits that framework.

This season finds J.D., Turk and Elliot respected at Sacred Heart and inspiring the next generation of doctors. J.D. now serves as the hospital’s chief of medicine. Newcomer John Higgins plays Grant, the new Chief Resident, who is envisioned as a thorn in J.D.’s side, much as J.D. once was for Dr. Cox.

Rachel Bilson is recurring as Charlie, Neil Flynn returns as the Janitor, and Ava Bunn has been promoted to series regular as Sam Tosh. Scott Foley’s Sean Kelly is also back as a recurring character, while Joel Kim Booster and X Mayo are not expected to return.

In its review, Collider said the new season feels more confident about what the revival wants to be, with a wider Sacred Heart ecosystem that gives supporting characters more room for comedy. The following episode, “My Halloween,” has J.D. helping a former colleague with a difficult patient while Elliot seeks support for her new clinic. If you are watching along, do you think Turk’s birthday plans will hold up once the interns’ night shift starts demanding attention from J.D. and Elliot?
