‘The Rip’ Star Teyana Taylor Turns Schiaparelli Couture Into Wearable Sculpture at the Academy Museum Gala
Teyana Taylor has never treated a red carpet as a polite formality, and few stars have a closer creative partnership with Schiaparelli. She won her first Golden Globe in a custom Schiaparelli gown, and in January she attended the house’s Spring/Summer 2026 couture show in Paris wearing a diamond-and-pearl crown inspired by the Louvre jewel heist.
The collaboration continued in March. At the Time Women of the Year Gala, she wore a look from Schiaparelli’s Fall 2026 ready-to-wear collection featuring a deep brown breastplate bodice paired with a velvety skirt and feathered hem.
Those fashion moments arrived during the biggest stretch of Taylor’s career. Her performance as Perfidia Beverly Hills in Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘One Battle After Another’ earned her a Golden Globe and her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
“No matter the outcome, I am blessed,” she said on ‘Good Morning America’ ahead of the ceremony, describing working with Leonardo DiCaprio as a super master class. She also revealed that she acts as her own stylist, calling the red carpet process really fun.
The film went on to win Best Picture, with Taylor joining her castmates on stage. Her 2025 visual album, ‘Escape Room’, also earned her a first Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album. On October 17, Taylor brought that same fearless energy to the sixth annual Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles.

She wore a look from Schiaparelli’s Fall/Winter 2026 Couture collection. The design paired a glossy turquoise sculpted breastplate with a sheer skirt covered in three-dimensional floral appliqués in shades of blue and silver, finished with a softly fringed hem.
Taylor kept her short cropped hair styled close to her face and added blue eyeshadow that echoed the color of the gown. The shared turquoise tone tied the bold, graphic bodice to the delicate, romantic skirt.
Taylor played a double role at the event. She attended both as a guest and as a member of the gala’s host committee, alongside names like Demi Moore, Kirsten Dunst, Greta Lee and Kate Hudson.
Teyana Taylor delivered another show-stopping fashion moment at the 2026 Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles! 🩵✨ The actress and singer commanded attention in a striking Schiaparelli Fall/Winter 2026 Haute Couture creation by Daniel Roseberry, featuring a sculptural powder-blue anatomical bustier and a sheer, intricately embellished floral skirt. She completed the daring look with Christian Louboutin Iriza 100 patent-leather pumps. Bold, artistic and unapologetically glamorous! 💫

The Zoe Report said Taylor shut down the carpet with the look. She wasn’t the only Schiaparelli couture moment of the night, either, as ‘Obsession’ star Inde Navarrette wore a polka-dotted tiered gown from the same collection.
Reactions online were lively and divided. Many fans loved the glossy breastplate, describing it as bold and unforgettable, while praising Taylor as one of Hollywood’s most exciting fashion risk-takers.
Others were less convinced by the lower half. Some commenters admired the construction but wished the sheer skirt’s lining had been swapped for something closer to her skin tone, while still praising her hair and earrings.
The gala raises funds for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures and honored Charlize Theron, Colman Domingo and John Carpenter this year, with Taylor Swift set to perform. Teyana Taylor joined a guest list that included Swift, Kate Hudson, Jamie Lee Curtis and Kerry Washington.

Taylor’s film slate keeps growing. She has roles in ’72 Hours’ and ‘The Rip’, where she plays Detective Numa Baptiste, part of a narcotics unit. With an Oscar nomination, a Golden Globe win, and a growing collection of unforgettable couture moments, Taylor continues to prove that she’s as daring on the red carpet as she is on screen.
