‘Clayface’ is directed by James Watkins and stars Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen, alongside Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella and Eddie Marsan. The body horror film is scheduled to reach theaters in the United States on October 23.

The cast of ‘Clayface’ pairs a lead who is still a relative newcomer with a supporting ensemble that includes several performers whose roles remain officially undisclosed. Here is a look at who is in the film and what has been confirmed about each part.

Tom Rhys Harries

Harries plays Matt Hagen, an actor who is transformed into a being made of clay. In the story, Hagen is an up and coming performer whose face is disfigured by a gangster.

The Welsh actor was cast in the title role after a lengthy casting process. Gunn announced the casting in June 2025 and described the search as exhaustive.

Naomi Ackie

Ackie plays Dr. Caitlin Corr, a fringe scientist who has been compared to Elizabeth Holmes and who is also Matt’s love interest. Hagen turns to her as a last resort, and she transforms his body into clay.

Reading sessions for the female lead were held in England in July 2025, and Ackie emerged as the top choice.

Max Minghella

Minghella plays a Gotham City police detective who is dating Ackie’s character. Some cast listings credit the character as John Borrelli.

He was reported to be in final talks to join the film in August 2025.

David Dencik

Dencik was revealed to have a role in February 2026, and his part has not been disclosed. He previously worked with Watkins on the series McMafia.

TechRadar notes that he is a Swedish and Danish performer.

Nancy Carroll

Carroll was revealed as part of the cast when the teaser trailer arrived in April 2026, and her role is undisclosed.

International listings for the release also name her among the supporting players.

Joshua James

James was another cast member revealed with the April 2026 teaser, with his role listed as undisclosed. One cast database lists him as Corey Bowery.

Francesca Corney

Corney was also announced as part of the film when the teaser arrived. One cast listing credits her as Rosie, a nightclub girl.

Ruby Sear

Sear joined the list of newly revealed cast members alongside several others in April 2026. A cast database credits her as Theresa.

Wil Coban

Coban was among the names revealed with the teaser trailer, with his role officially undisclosed. A cast database credits him as Bones.

Eddie Marsan

Marsan was revealed to be part of the cast during filming in Liverpool, and his role has not been disclosed. Liverpool was transformed into Gotham City for the production.

Because the film follows a man whose face is destroyed by a gangster and who then turns to a questionable scientist, Marsan could belong to either the criminal underworld or the world around Matt Hagen.
