‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Is Still Pulling in Millions Long After Its Theatrical Debut
Few box office runs in recent memory have been as relentless as the one ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has delivered this year. Since swinging into theaters in late July, Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing has smashed one record after another, rewriting what a Spidey movie, and a superhero movie, can earn.
It opened to a record-breaking $360 million in North America and $932 million globally, then cleared $1 billion after just 6 days of release. It reached $2 billion after 3 weekends, making it the second-fastest film ever to hit that mark, behind only ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
Now, as the run winds down, trackers are tallying the final stretch. On October 18, Box Office Forecast posted that the film has reached roughly $2.516 billion worldwide, calling it a top-3 film of all time.
The post also made clear that the next rung up the ladder is out of reach, saying ‘Avatar’ is too far ahead even with a possible re-release. Its forecast chart projects a final total of around $2.55 billion, with audience-facing scores of 90% and 98% shown on the graphic, and it notes the film’s $225 million budget as profit territory.
Per Deadline, ‘Brand New Day’ ranks behind ‘Avatar’, which sits near $2.92 billion, and ‘Avengers: Endgame’. Endgame recently reclaimed the all-time No. 1 spot with its re-release, reaching $2.925 billion by early October, according to Euronews.

The film is also ahead of ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ and ‘Titanic’. It joined ‘Endgame’ and ‘Avatar’ as one of only 3 films to pass $2.5 billion worldwide, according to Sony. The list of titles is long. Variety reported that ‘Brand New Day’ overtook ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, which held the record for 10 years at $936.66 million, to become the highest-grossing movie ever at the domestic box office.
It has since reached $955 million domestically and $1.551 billion internationally. It’s also the highest-grossing Spider-Man film, the highest-grossing solo superhero movie, the highest-grossing Sony release ever, and the biggest film of 2026.

The numbers have elevated the character, too. Sony said Peter Parker is now the highest-grossing movie character in history, with a cumulative $17.5 billion worldwide. The movie spent 6 straight weekends at No. 1, and the run represented the biggest opening for director Destin Daniel Cretton, Zendaya and Jon Bernthal. For Holland, who also appeared in ‘Endgame’, it’s his highest-grossing movie after that Avengers finale.
Producers aimed to make Holland’s Parker a proper Spider-Man for the first time, on his own and fighting street-level crime. The film sets Peter alone after the world forgot him, with a cast that includes Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo.
Strong word of mouth helped, with an A CinemaScore and a 90% Rotten Tomatoes rating. The marketing was also enormous, as the trailer reportedly became the first to pass 1 billion cumulative views.
For a while, it looked like ‘Brand New Day’ might overtake ‘Endgame’ as the highest-grossing MCU film. According to Screen Rant, the run has slowed enough that this now seems highly unlikely, especially with the ‘Endgame’ re-release adding to its lead. That leaves ‘Brand New Day’ firmly in the No. 3 spot for the foreseeable future.

The next Marvel tentpole is already looming. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ arrives on December 18, and presales have been tracking at a pace that rivals the Spidey record-breaker. Whether it can top ‘Brand New Day’ or even challenge ‘Endgame’ remains the next big question. For now, Peter Parker has the bragging rights.
Do you think ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ can surpass ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ at the all-time box office?
