Hollywood’s fall social season hit one of its glossiest peaks over the weekend, and Zoey Deutch was among the stars who stepped out for the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles. The event took place Saturday night at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on the Miracle Mile, where proceeds help the institution keep presenting exhibitions, educational opportunities, and public screenings.

The evening’s honorees gave the night real heft. Charlize Theron received the Icon Award, John Carpenter took home the Luminary Award, and Colman Domingo was recognized with the Vantage Award, while Tom Ford, Robert Rodriguez, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw served as co-chairs. The gala ultimately raised more than $14 million, with Taylor Swift capping off the festivities with a performance.

With fashion weeks wrapping up just before the gala, plenty of attendees arrived in fresh-off-the-runway looks, and Deutch’s choice fit right into that mood. She wore Prada, opting for a crisp white long-sleeve gown scattered with three-dimensional petal-like embellishments.

Portraits shared on X by several outlets show the appliqués in a mix of gold, silver, and smoky grey tones, giving the dress a playful, almost garden-like texture. From behind, the look revealed an open back, adding a sleek counterpoint to the high, covered neckline at the front.

She kept the rest of the styling relaxed, with tousled, shoulder-length waves that let the gown’s sparkle do the talking. Inside the museum, she was also photographed alongside Yara Shahidi, while fellow guests on the carpet included Eiza González, Amandla Stenberg and Isabel May.

The appearance caps off a busy stretch for the actress, who has been juggling several releases across festivals, theaters and streaming. Back in January, she premiered ‘Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass’ at the Sundance Film Festival, a comedy co-starring Jon Hamm, John Slattery, Ken Marino and Ben Wang.

Deutch didn’t just lead that film; she also served as an executive producer. The story follows a small-town hairdresser whose fiancé cheats with his “celebrity pass,” prompting her to head to Los Angeles in search of her own: Jon Hamm, playing himself.

Summer brought another major release. Netflix premiered ‘Voicemails for Isabelle’ on June 19, a romantic comedy directed by Leah McKendrick that pairs Deutch with Nick Robinson in a story about romance, grief and unexpected connection.

Her range has also stretched into arthouse territory. Deutch stars in Richard Linklater’s ‘Nouvelle Vague’, a film about the making of Jean-Luc Godard’s ‘Breathless’ that competed at the Cannes Film Festival last year.

Netflix has highlighted her as a performer who has moved comfortably between political satire, crime thrillers, time-loop stories and post-apocalyptic comedies. That versatility has kept her firmly on Hollywood’s radar, and the gala felt like a fitting spotlight for a star with so many projects in the mix.

Hollywood roots likely made the evening feel a bit like home turf, too. Deutch is the younger daughter of ‘Pretty in Pink’ director Howard Deutch and ‘Back to the Future’ actress Lea Thompson, giving her a family connection to the very kind of filmmaking history the museum exists to celebrate.

In a night crowded with dramatic gowns, Deutch’s Prada choice stood out by leaning into texture rather than volume. The petal details brought a sense of whimsy, while the clean white base kept it polished enough for one of the industry’s most formal evenings. It was a confident, slightly unexpected fashion moment that mirrored her career right now: versatile, a little playful, and never quite predictable.

What do you think of Zoey Deutch’s embellished white Prada gown at the Academy Museum Gala?
