‘Eden’ Star Ana de Armas Embraces the Art of Mystery on Harper’s Bazaar Spain’s Beauty Issue Covers
Ana de Armas has always had a special connection to Spain, and her latest magazine moment brings that relationship full circle. The Cuban-born actress moved to Madrid at 18, where her role in the boarding school series ‘El Internado’ turned her into a celebrity long before Hollywood came calling.
She later returned to Spanish television for 17 episodes of the historical drama ‘Hispania’, before eventually building an international career. Today, she is one of Hollywood’s most in-demand stars, with roles ranging from Joi in ‘Blade Runner 2049’ to Marilyn Monroe in ‘Blonde’ and Eve Macarro in the ‘John Wick’ spinoff ‘Ballerina’.
Now, de Armas is back on Spanish newsstands, fronting not 1 but 2 covers for the November issue of Harper’s Bazaar España. Billed as the magazine’s beauty issue, the covers carry the line “El arte de habitar el misterio,” which translates to the art of inhabiting mystery.
On the first cover, de Armas wears a black jacket with a textured, shimmering finish and a raised collar. Her long, dark hair falls in loose waves, and she pairs the look with a layered statement necklace while resting one hand gently on her chest.
The second cover takes a more sculptural approach. She sits sideways with her chin resting on her hand, wearing a black satin jacket, a sparkling collar-style necklace and drop earrings, with her hair loose and tousled.

The cover concept feels especially fitting for a star who has kept much of her personal life private. Her career has also been built on roles that blend vulnerability with quiet intensity, giving the “mystery” theme an added layer of meaning.
The covers arrive just days after another headline-grabbing fashion moment. De Armas attended the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles in a custom black velvet Louis Vuitton gown, part of a group of 12 stars dressed by designer Nicolas Ghesquière for the evening.

That appearance, paired with these new covers, shows an actress fully embracing an elegant, all-black aesthetic this season. Beyond fashion, de Armas has one of the busiest lineups in Hollywood. She is set to play ambitious fitness influencer Emma Kent in ‘Sweat’, a psychological thriller directed by J Blakeson about a woman chasing the success of her social media idol.

She will also star opposite Tom Cruise in Doug Liman’s sci-fi horror film ‘Deeper’, which follows a disgraced former astronaut. Meanwhile, ‘Reenactment’, a thriller from Grant Singer co-starring Benicio del Toro and Cameron Diaz, is currently in post-production.
Her upcoming work also includes ‘Impunity’, an espionage thriller from Felipe Gálvez co-starring Sebastian Stan. The film is set against the backdrop of Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet’s arrest in London in 1998.
Television is also part of her plans. De Armas is attached to 2 Apple TV+ drama series: ‘Safe Houses’, alongside Jennifer Connelly, with Gideon Raff as showrunner, and ‘Bananas’, co-starring Oscar Isaac. Together, these projects reflect a deliberate move across genres, from action and psychological thrillers to sci-fi and character-driven drama.
For Spanish audiences who watched her rise on ‘El Internado’, seeing de Armas front a major Spanish fashion title again carries a certain nostalgia. The mysterious, editorial styling captures exactly where she is now: a global star who still knows how to keep audiences intrigued.
