‘Jumanji: Open World’ Reveals First Poster for the Franchise’s Final Adventure
Few family franchises have enjoyed a second life quite like ‘Jumanji’. What began with the 1995 film starring Robin Williams was reinvented for a new generation with ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ in 2017 and ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’ in 2019, both directed by Jake Kasdan.
Now the modern saga is heading toward its conclusion. ‘Jumanji: Open World’ is the fifth and final installment in the film series, with Kasdan returning to direct and co-write alongside Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg.
Sony has officially unveiled the first poster for the film, which arrives in theaters on December 25. The artwork stacks Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Jack Black and Kevin Hart in a vertical lineup, all in costume as their familiar video game avatars.
Surrounding them is a flock of curious ostriches, peering in from every side of the frame against a snowy city street. Across the top runs the tagline “Two worlds collide. One final game.”
The ostriches are a clever nod for longtime fans. ‘The Next Level’ ended with a herd of the birds appearing outside the restaurant where Danny DeVito’s Eddie had reunited with Nora, revealing that creatures from Jumanji had escaped into the real world.

That cliffhanger sets up the premise of the new film. According to the official synopsis, the heroes have escaped the perilous jungles of Jumanji before, but this time the game breaks free of its console and unleashes its chaos into our world.
It marks a major shift for the franchise, which has traditionally pulled its characters into the game rather than the other way around. The poster’s wintry urban backdrop hints at just how different this final adventure will look.
Johnson, Hart, Black and Gillan return as Dr. Smolder Bravestone, Franklin “Mouse” Finbar, Professor Shelly Oberon and Ruby Roundhouse. They are joined by returning cast members Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain and Madison Iseman.
Danny DeVito, Rhys Darby, Bebe Neuwirth, Lamorne Morris and Marin Hinkle are also back. New additions include Brittany O’Grady, Burn Gorman and Nasim Pedrad, whose roles are still being kept under wraps.

Kasdan first confirmed early development on a follow-up back in March 2020, with plans to keep the core cast intact. In March 2023, Hart indicated that the next chapter would be the final film in the series.
O’Grady and Gorman joined the cast in October 2025, and production wrapped on March 30, 2026. The full title was then revealed during Sony’s CinemaCon presentation in April. The film was originally set to open on December 11 before Sony pushed it back by 2 weeks on March 24, landing it in a prime Christmas Day slot.
The poster has sparked plenty of conversation online. Many fans welcomed the franchise’s return for the holidays and praised the wild premise, while others criticized the series and argued it tarnishes Robin Williams’ legacy. Either way, a Christmas release and a crowd-pleasing cast give the film a strong shot at becoming one of the season’s big family draws.
With its real-world setting, returning ensemble and a clear promise that this is the end of the road, ‘Jumanji: Open World’ is shaping up to be a big send-off for the modern era of the franchise. If the poster is any indication, audiences can expect plenty of chaos, comedy, and a few very determined ostriches.
Are you excited to see ‘Jumanji: Open World’ bring the game’s chaos into the real world?
