The cast of ‘Nobody Wants This’ is getting a few new faces as the romantic comedy returns to Netflix. The third season premieres Thursday, October 22, and it runs ten half hour episodes. Here is a look at the people who anchor the story.

Variety reported that nine new cast members had joined the hit comedy, and the full lineup now blends returning favorites with fresh recurring characters. Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons and Jackie Tohn return alongside the two leads. The new additions arrive as Joanne approaches the next stage of her conversion journey.

Bell stars as Joanne, an agnostic podcaster who falls in love with a rabbi. She also holds an executive producer credit on the series, alongside Sara Foster, Nora Silver and several others.

The second season ended with Joanne deciding to convert to Judaism. Netflix’s official description says she and Noah are moving into a home and a relationship that finally feels solid.

The trailer adds a lighter beat for her character. Joanne arrives at synagogue dressed like a rebbetzin, with an outfit chosen by Noah’s mother, Bina. Netflix’s first look images also include Bell alongside Justine Lupe in episode 303 and Jackie Tohn in episode 305.

Adam Brody

Brody plays Noah, the rabbi at the center of the show’s central romance. The series follows the couple as they reconcile their very different views on religion while their families look on skeptically.

One of the released images shows him opposite a notable guest. Brody appears as Noah with Erin Foster as Nicole in episode 304. Foster is the series creator, and Netflix describes Nicole as a terminally single, chaotic person.

That casting carries some personal weight. Foster wrote the series based on her own relationship and conversion to Judaism, and it marks her first time appearing on screen in the show.

Sarah Silverman

Silverman joined the series in a recurring role, and her credits include ‘PostMortem’ and ‘Maestro’. She plays Rabbi Eden, the warm, quirky teacher of an Intro to Judaism class.

The character also serves a story purpose beyond the classroom. Rabbi Eden is a supportive presence for both Joanne and Noah, which gives the couple a new ally as the conversion plot moves forward.

Silverman appears in the first look photos as well. One image shows Keyla Monterroso Mejia as Amber beside Silverman as Rabbi Eden in episode 302. The trailer also gives viewers a glimpse of her in the classroom.

Andrew Rannells

Rannells is known for ‘Girls’ and ‘Book of Mormon’, and he joins the show in a recurring role. He plays Sebastien, who Netflix describes as Joanne’s nemesis in conversion class.

A rivalry inside the classroom gives the conversion storyline a sharper edge. Joanne has spent much of the series navigating Noah’s world, and Sebastien adds a figure who tests her place in it.

Rannells is glimpsed in the trailer alongside Silverman and Monterroso Mejia. That suggests the class will serve as a regular source of comedy and friction.

Monterroso Mejia, whose credits include ‘The Studio’ and ‘Abbott Elementary’, rounds out the trio of new recurring cast members. She plays Amber, a single woman in Joanne’s Intro to Judaism class who is obsessed with finding a Jewish husband.

Amber’s goal puts her in an interesting contrast with Joanne. One is converting for a relationship she already has, and the other is converting in hopes of finding one.

The trailer confirms that Rannells, Monterroso Mejia and Silverman all appear in the footage. With Sebastien competing for attention and Amber searching for a match, which of Rabbi Eden’s students do you think will prove the biggest complication for Joanne’s conversion?
