‘The Drop: A Snowfall Saga’ Episode 8 Release Date, Time, Where to Watch and Preview
The first season of ‘The Drop’ is down to its last chapter, and the ‘Snowfall’ spinoff has one more Tuesday to go. The finale is titled “Hercules” and is scheduled to air on October 27. Here is what is known about when and where to watch it.
Created by Malcolm Spellman, the drama follows ‘Snowfall’ characters Wanda Bell and Leon Simmons as they try to reinvent themselves in 1990s Los Angeles, where the rise of West Coast rap is feeding a new game. The original ‘Snowfall’ ran on FX for six seasons from 2017 to 2023. That history gives the finale a good deal to carry for viewers who have followed the franchise from the start.
Release Date for the Season Finale
Episode guides list “Hercules” for October 27, one week after “Blood In, Blood Out” on October 20. That makes this the closing hour of the first season. It follows a steady weekly rollout that has run without a break since the series began in September.
FX confirmed at launch that one new episode would arrive each week after the premiere. The schedule places those releases on Tuesday evenings. Viewers who have kept pace with the season should expect the same rhythm for the finale.
The finale is directed by Alonso Alvarez and written by Lex Edness and Christine Macedo. Alvarez also directed the second episode of the season, so he returns to the series for its closing chapter. The writing team is separate from the one credited on the premiere, which was written by Spellman himself.
Air Time on FX
FX set the series to air at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT. That is the slot viewers should plan around for the live broadcast of the finale. Promotional material continues to list the drama on Tuesday nights in that same position.
The show carries a listed run time of about 60 minutes per episode. Several installments have stretched past that mark, and the same guide notes the premiere ran 80 minutes while “Homecoming” ran 70. A finale could reasonably be expected to sit in that longer range, though no official run time has been reported for it.
Viewers outside the United States will want to check local listings for their own broadcast or streaming times. The US schedule is the only one confirmed across the sources reviewed.
Where to Watch on Hulu and Disney+
In the United States the series airs on FX and is also available on Hulu, while it streams on Disney+ internationally. Cable subscribers can watch the finale live, and everyone else can catch up through the streaming services. Both options have been in place for the entire season.
Reports differ slightly on how soon the episodes reach Hulu. A Disney announcement says new episodes drop the next day on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in the United States, and on Disney+ around the world. One episode guide places the Hulu release at 3 a.m. ET on the Wednesday after the broadcast.
Anyone planning to stream the finale on its first night should confirm the timing inside the app. The FX announcement and the later Disney details describe the streaming rollout in different terms.
Finale Preview and the Stakes for Wanda
The official description for “Hercules” says Wanda forms an unlikely alliance and risks everything on a bold move that could change their future forever. The wording points toward a decisive gamble rather than a quiet wrap up. It also suggests that the people around her will feel the consequences of whatever she chooses.
The episode before it sets the stage, with Lamar working to repair fractured relationships through music, Leon caught between loyalty and responsibility, and Wanda scrambling for a new plan as Artillery struggles in the wake of tragedy. Lamar is also dealing with family secrets about his mother that were revealed by Gerty and Big Daddy. Those threads give the finale several open wounds to address.
The central tension has been built into the series from its early setup. Wanda’s internship with Darryl Grant, a former D-boy turned label owner played by Brandon Mychal Smith, creates opportunities but deepens the strain between her and Leon, who has vowed to leave the streets and runs a free legal clinic. The finale will likely decide whether those two paths can coexist.
Franklin Saint, the central figure of the original ‘Snowfall’, is not among the characters announced for the spinoff. His last scene with Leon in the ‘Snowfall’ finale included the first hint that Wanda was moving into the music scene. If Wanda’s bold move in ‘The Drop’ pays off or costs her Leon and the Kinsey cousins, the comments are open for your read on whether her bet on West Coast rap was worth the risk.
