Worlds Literally Collide in Haunting New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Incursion Art
The multiverse has been fraying at the edges of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for years, and the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ incursion storyline is shaping up to be where it finally tears apart. Marvel Studios describes the film as the moment heroes from 3 universes are set on a deadly collision course to face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.
That collapse got a dramatic preview in theaters this fall. ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ added 4 new scenes, including 3 post-credits scenes, and one of them shows the collapse of the multiverse itself as the TVA watches incursions unfold. By the time the scene ends, thousands of incursions are taking place.
Now, Marvel’s marketing machine has put that cosmic catastrophe front and center. A new piece of promotional art shared by Avengers Updates on X depicts an incursion in vivid detail, showing 2 planets smashing into each other in an explosion of pink and violet energy as jagged debris scatters into space.
Unlike much of the campaign so far, the image features no heroes, no villains, and no logos. It simply captures the sheer scale of the threat, which feels fitting for a film built around the idea of entire realities crashing together.

The new art joins an enormous wave of promotional material. At least 25 posters have surfaced online, many of them sourced from HEXFacility, with designs ranging from comic book cover aesthetics to cel-shading and bold color panels.
Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have made it clear that these collisions are the beating heart of the story. Joe called the multiverse collapse “the most profound thing that’s ever happened to the MCU,” while Anthony described it as “the unifying principle of combining the X-Men universe, the Avengers universe, the Fantastic Four universe,” the pair told Empire.
Earlier promo art already hinted at how this might play out. A piece showing the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men logos colliding teased Earth-616, Earth-828, and Earth-10005 converging in a 3-way incursion.

There may be an even deeper connection to the past. Anthony Russo said at a special New York screening that ‘Encore’ gives ‘Endgame’ a different meaning, revealing that ‘Doomsday’ was born one beat after Steve Rogers’ story ended with Peggy Carter. That has fueled theories that Steve’s trip back in time caused incursion-related damage to the multiverse.
Fans have also been dissecting smaller details. When asked whether the mention of 3,000 incursions in ‘Encore’ was a nod to Tony Stark’s iconic line, Joe Russo playfully suggested it could be.
Overseeing it all is Robert Downey Jr., who was revealed as Victor von Doom at San Diego Comic-Con in 2024. A new trailer unveiled at D23 by Kevin Feige, Downey, Chris Evans, and Hayley Atwell focused squarely on the villain.

The supporting cast is staggering. Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Channing Tatum, Joseph Quinn, Sebastian Stan, and Tom Hiddleston are among the names joining the fight.
The Russos have also been careful to keep some secrets. They teased that there are characters and actors who have not been announced but are part of the film. The excitement around the franchise is clearly still strong. ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ added $86 million globally in its opening weekend, pushing the film’s total gross to $2.8 billion.
