Marvel’s latest Disney+ series has been rewarding eagle-eyed fans from the very first episode, and the newest ‘VisionQuest’ references to the Ten Rings and Werewolf by Night have sent viewers scrambling to connect the dots. The show follows a rebooted Vision, played by Paul Bettany, who has gone into hiding after escaping those who sought to weaponize him.

Hot on his trail is Paladin, the fearsome bounty hunter played by Todd Stashwick. In Episode 2, Paladin blasted multiple holes through the normally invulnerable Vision using adamantium rounds, a moment many fans noted shows the near-indestructible metal is already making its way out into the world.

Now, Episode 3, titled ‘Reboot’, has filled in Paladin’s history in a big way. During a conversation with his Handler, the bounty hunter is revealed to have crossed paths with several major corners of the MCU, including the Ten Rings and Werewolf by Night.

The Ten Rings connection might be the most significant. The episode establishes that Xialing’s Ten Rings syndicate provided Paladin with his adamantium vest, the same armor that saved his life during his battle against Vision.

ComingSoon speculated that the organization likely supplied his adamantium bullets as well. That would make the Ten Rings a key player in arming one of Vision’s most dangerous enemies.

The other nod is a treat for fans of Marvel’s spooky side. The Handler asks Paladin about bite marks from a creature halfway between man and wolf, and he replies that the attacker is “a perfectly reasonable fella by day.”

That’s a clear reference to Jack Russell, the Werewolf by Night. Gael García Bernal played the character in the Halloween special ‘Werewolf by Night’, released on October 7, 2022, with a fully colored version following on October 20, 2023.

Fans have been waiting a long time for any acknowledgment of the character. Fiction Horizon noted that the line finally gives ‘Werewolf by Night’ a nod in the wider MCU. Paladin’s list of old enemies doesn’t stop there. The Handler also recalls a Brooklyn job that left him pulling IED shrapnel from his gut, which he calls a punishing disagreement with an old friend, an obvious nod to the Punisher.

Then there’s the concussion from a steel fiber billy club. Paladin’s reply, “If you can’t take the heat, get out of Hell’s Kitchen,” points straight to Daredevil, fitting since Paladin first appeared in a 1970s ‘Daredevil’ comic. In a single conversation, a new villain picks up ties to the Punisher, Daredevil, a werewolf, and one of the MCU’s best-known criminal organizations.

The Ten Rings connection runs deeper in ‘VisionQuest’ than a single line. Faran Tahir reprises Raza, the Ten Rings leader he played in the original ‘Iron Man’, reconnecting the series with one of the MCU’s earliest chapters.

That makes the vest reveal feel like part of a larger thread. With the organization now arming bounty hunters with adamantium, the Ten Rings appear to be playing a bigger role in the MCU’s evolving landscape.

The references have naturally sparked speculation about cameos. Paul Bettany previously promised plenty of Easter eggs and cameos, but nothing has been announced about appearances from these characters, and for now the nods remain just that. Episodes 3 and 4 are now streaming on Disney+. The 8-episode series serves as the final chapter of the trilogy that began with ‘WandaVision’ and continued with ‘Agatha All Along’.
