‘Zmora’ Episode 5 Release Date, Streaming Details and What to Expect on HBO Max

The next installment of ‘Zmora’ arrives on HBO Max on Friday, October 30, and it is the penultimate chapter of a six episode season. The fourth episode is dated for today, October 23, which leaves viewers one week before the story approaches its closing stretch.

‘Zmora’ is a Polish crime series adapted from the bestselling novel by Robert Małecki and directed by Łukasz Jaworski. For anyone trying to plan their viewing, the latest ‘Zmora’ episode follows a steady weekly rhythm that makes the schedule easy to track.

Release Date and Weekly Episode Schedule

New episodes of ‘Zmora’ appear on Fridays, and the season runs to six episodes in total. The first part reached HBO Max on October 2, and the remaining episodes are added to the library each Friday.

The full run goes episode two on October 9, episode three on October 16, episode four on October 23, the upcoming episode on October 30, and the finale on November 6. That puts the season finale in the first week of November. The closing of the whole intrigue is expected in that first week of November.

Each episode runs roughly 43 to 45 minutes depending on the listing, and one outlet notes the entire season takes under five hours to watch. The schedules published so far name the day of release rather than a specific hour, so viewers should check the platform on the day itself.

Where to Watch on HBO Max

‘Zmora’ is available only on HBO Max. It is presented as an HBO Original, built around a journalistic investigation tied to a mystery that stayed unsolved for decades.

On the Polish HBO Max page the series carries a 16 plus rating, and subscription plans start at 29.99 zloty per month. Viewers outside Poland should confirm availability in their own region before counting on the Friday drop.

Because every episode lands in the platform library on the same day each week, there is no separate broadcast window to follow. That makes the penultimate episode simple to catch whether a viewer watches the moment it appears or waits to binge the last two chapters together.

What to Expect From the Story

The series follows Kama Kossowska, a controversial journalist who returns to her hometown of Toruń, where her arrival stirs memories and questions that went unanswered for years. When commissioner Tomasz Korcz reopens the disappearance of Piotrek, a childhood friend of Kama, she becomes involved in the investigation.

The action unfolds in the present day as well as in the 1980s and 1990s. With each new lead, the line between past and present grows thinner and buried secrets begin to demand the truth.

Writing for Serialowa, the reviewer felt the first four episodes circled the same situations, and says the penultimate episode is where the series finally starts to reveal its cards. A separate spoiler free review from Serialomaniak describes the series as gaining intensity from episode to episode, with the main investigation resonating better from around the fourth episode.

Cast and Creative Team

Magdalena Cielecka leads the series, with Piotr Głowacki and Łukasz Simlat among the other established names on screen. Piotr Żurawski plays the commissioner Korcz. The ensemble also includes Aleksander Krupa, Maria Pakulnis, Katarzyna Bujakiewicz and Dorota Kolak, alongside younger actors Oliwia Gołębiowska, Eryk Wróbel and Olgierd Blecharz.

Jaworski directs from scripts by Kacper Wysocki and Adam Guziński, with Maciej Sobieraj behind the camera. The story is based on a 2021 novel by Toruń writer Robert Małecki, and the series is set in Toruń.

That same reviewer argues the series does not make full use of its characters and that Kama is not a second Chyłka, a point that may divide viewers as the season nears its end. With only two chapters left, readers who have followed Kama’s return to Toruń can say in the comments whether the penultimate episode finally gives the long buried disappearance of Piotrek the payoff the first four episodes promised.
