‘Pluribus’ Season 2 Production Kicks Off With a Mysterious Pink Umbrella Image

Few Apple TV originals have arrived with as much force as ‘Pluribus’. The series premiered on Nov. 7, 2025, with two episodes, and its opening weekend viewership was corroborated by Nielsen’s streaming ratings. Apple said it broke the record previously held by ‘Severance’ Season 2 as the streamer’s biggest global drama launch.

The momentum didn’t stop at the premiere. Apple later confirmed that ‘Pluribus’ had become the most-watched show in Apple TV history, outpacing ‘Ted Lasso’, ‘Severance’, ‘The Morning Show’ and ‘Slow Horses’. Rhea Seehorn also won a Golden Globe and a Critics’ Choice Award for her lead performance.

That success made the long wait for more all the harder on fans. Now there’s finally something concrete to point to. DiscussingFilm posted on Nov. 2 that ‘Pluribus’ Season 2 has begun filming, with the simple note that it’s coming soon to Apple TV. The post came with an image of two figures standing under a large pink umbrella in a dry, open landscape.

The timing lines up with earlier reports. Production listings had filming scheduled to begin in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Oct. 31, 2026, and that is where the first season was shot. The desert setting in the shared image fits that return to familiar ground.

Cast members had been dropping hints for months. Karolina Wydra told ScreenRant at PaleyFest in April that filming was expected to begin in the fall. Creator Vince Gilligan has been just as busy behind the scenes: writing on the new season has now finished, after starting in December of last year.

Gilligan has also said how much groundwork was done before scripts began. Speaking with Collider at Televerse, he said every episode of Season 2 had been plotted and outlined. He also teased that the story will dig into whether the world is actually better after the alien virus took over.

So when might viewers actually see it? There is still no official premiere date. Forbes, going by the filming and post-production timelines of Season 1, estimates a July 2028 release, give or take a month. Others are more optimistic, with one outlet suggesting that since Season 1 premiered in November 2025, a fall production window could point to around November 2027.

The story itself picks up from a compelling place. Carol Sturka, played by Seehorn, has just seen fellow immune individual Manousos, played by Carlos-Manuel Vesga, arrive at her door after traveling halfway across the globe. The same report notes that Seehorn, Wydra and Vesga are all expected back, though Apple TV hasn’t officially confirmed the wider cast.

None of this was a surprise in structure, either. ‘Pluribus’ was acquired in 2022 after a bidding war, with a direct order for two seasons. Season 2 has been part of the plan from the start, even if the road to it has felt slower than many fans hoped.

As for that pink umbrella, the post offers no official context on who is pictured or what the scene means. Given how much of the first season’s mystery came from small, strange details, expect fans to start digging into every pixel. With cameras now rolling, the speculation is likely just getting started.
