‘Euphoria’ Star Sydney Sweeney’s Bond Girl Odds Slip as the Next 007 Casting Race Heats Up
The search for the next James Bond has become one of Hollywood’s most closely watched casting stories, and it isn’t only about who will play 007. With Denis Villeneuve directing the next film for Amazon MGM Studios, fans have been just as curious about which actress will join the new Bond in the lead female role.
Prediction market Kalshi has been tracking both races. In late October, Just Jared reported that Jack Lowden led the Bond market at 60%, followed by Callum Turner at 37% and Josh O’Connor at 15%, while final screen tests were reportedly underway in London.
Sydney Sweeney has long been one of the most talked-about names for the female lead. Now Kalshi’s “Next James Bond film: Actress cast as Bond girl” market gives her a 12% chance of landing the role.
The chart shared by Kalshi Film shows her odds swinging up and down over time before dropping sharply at the end. That’s a notable fall from late October, when Just Jared reported Sweeney at 20%. She has also lost her place at the top of the market. In that same snapshot, Margaret Qualley led the race at 37%, with Anya Taylor-Joy in second at 25%.

Speculation about Sweeney joining the franchise picked up after a Variety feature claimed that Jeff Bezos wanted her in the upcoming Bond film. The same piece noted that she had attended Bezos’ wedding and was working on a lingerie business with the group.
When asked about the rumors, Sweeney told Variety that she didn’t know all the Bond gossip but had always been a huge fan of the franchise. She said she was excited to see what the filmmakers do with it and that whether the role suits her would depend on the script.

She also joked that she thinks she would have more fun playing James Bond himself. That answer quickly spread online and only added to the buzz around her name. Sweeney has some high-profile support for an even bigger role. ‘Bridesmaids’ director Paul Feig told The Sun earlier this year that he would rather see Sweeney become the next Bond, calling for the franchise to let her be the super-spy.
Feig also praised her as one of the hardest-working people he knows. While a female 007 isn’t on the table for the upcoming film, his comments show how much enthusiasm there is for her among filmmakers.
Sweeney’s drop comes as Qualley has taken control of the market. CinemaBlend reported back in June that Qualley had overtaken Sweeney on Kalshi, and she has held a strong lead since.

Taylor-Joy has also emerged as a serious contender. Both actresses bring major star power to the race, which is still entirely speculative because no casting has been announced.
Prediction markets can move quickly, and none of these numbers guarantee who Amazon MGM will cast. The studio hasn’t confirmed any actors for the new film, and its choice of Bond is likely to shape decisions about the rest of the cast.
Once the next 007 is officially revealed, attention will quickly turn to the actress joining him. Until then, Sweeney, Qualley and Taylor-Joy remain among the names fans are watching most closely.
Who would you most like to see join the next James Bond film as its leading lady?
