Every Returning Face and Surprise Guest Star in ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Second Season
The second run of ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ arrived on Paramount+ with a premiere date of October 30. New episodes roll out weekly through December. The season has leaned on familiar faces and unexpected names, with several appearances confirmed through set photos and on-record announcements.
Those ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ cameos fall into a few distinct groups. There are wrestlers and horror figures stepping into the show’s world, characters from the original series who were thought gone, and a returning killer from last year’s story. Here is what has been confirmed so far.
Chris Jericho and the Surprise Guest Stars
Chris Jericho made a surprise cameo in the premiere, portraying a serial killer known as the Midnight Mangler. The role had been teased earlier. Fans at New York Comic Con were surprised by a screening of the premiere episode, which featured Jericho.
Production photos had already hinted at how his scene would end. Dexter was seen on set injecting Jericho with anaesthetic and dragging him away into an alley. The premiere recap confirmed the outcome, noting that Dexter took an axe to the Midnight Mangler in Seattle.
Jericho responded to the role on social media in a tone that suited the part. He joked that the Mangler might have had a better chance if Dexter had not ambushed him from behind. He also thanked members of the creative team for the opportunity, including executive producer Scott Reynolds and producing director Marcos Siega.
Kane Hodder and Other New Names Joining the Cast
Another casting reveal came from the production itself. Reynolds announced on social media that horror figure Kane Hodder had been cast, writing that the production could not fight it and let fate do the rest. Hodder is best known for playing Jason Voorhees in the ‘Friday the 13th’ franchise.
Details about the part remain thin. Hodder is listed in an undisclosed role. That leaves open whether he appears as a victim, a rival killer or something less obvious.
Music fans have a familiar name to watch for as well. Shavo Odadjian plays R.H. Martin. The season also carries heavier guest casting, including Gabriel Luna as serial killer Ray Ballard.
Returning Characters From the Original Series
The most discussed return belongs to Angel Batista. Batista died at the end of the first season. Even so, David Zayas is set to be back despite that demise. New set photos confirmed the character’s return.
How he returns is not yet clear. The franchise is known for bringing back deceased characters as visions of Dexter Morgan. That precedent points toward a hallucination or flashback, though the production has not said so directly.
Joey Quinn has a more substantial presence this time. Desmond Harrington played Quinn for two episodes of the first season and has been promoted to series regular. Set photos showed Dexter at a table with Quinn, who appears to have questions about Batista’s disappearance.
Not everyone reads that promotion as good news for the character. One outlet noted that Batista was added as a series regular before his own death, and suggested Quinn’s fate may follow a similar path. That remains speculation until the episodes air.
Krysten Ritter and Faces Back From the Dead
Krysten Ritter’s return carries its own puzzle. She played Mia, also known as Lady Vengeance, a serial killer who was killed while in jail. Deadline reported that she will return as a guest star.
The on-set evidence offers a clue about the format. She was photographed in scenes alongside James Remar’s Harry Morgan. Harry is a figment of Dexter’s imagination who serves as a voice of conscience and reminds him of the Code.
That pattern ties into how the series handled last year’s finale. The first season closed with a run of ghostly cameos, including a hallucinated visit from Brian Moser. It also leaned on the franchise’s history, with John Lithgow returning as Arthur Mitchell and Jimmy Smits as Miguel Prado.
What the Cameos Say About the Season Ahead
The guest list suggests a show that is comfortable mixing nostalgia with fresh threats. Brian Cox has joined as the New York Ripper, described as a serial killer who terrorized the city years ago. Uma Thurman also returns as Charley. Alongside the familiar faces, those newcomers give the season two distinct strands to follow.
The wider ensemble gives the cameos room to breathe. Jack Alcott returns as Harrison, James Remar as Harry, and Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara. Detectives Claudette Wallace and Melvin Oliva round out the returning regulars.
What stands out is how deliberately the show has chosen its guests. Jericho’s Midnight Mangler gives the premiere a quick, memorable kill, while Batista and Mia suggest the writers still see value in the dead. If Batista does appear as one of Dexter’s visions, is that a fitting way to honor the character or a trick the series has leaned on too often, and which other fallen face from the original run would you want to see in the comments?
