James Gunn’s DC Universe is slowly shifting its spotlight to the next chapter of the Man of Steel’s story. ‘Man of Tomorrow’, the follow-up to 2025’s ‘Superman’, brings back David Corenswet as Clark Kent and is set to arrive in theaters on July 9, 2027.

The film wrapped principal photography in late August after about 93 days of shooting. Gunn marked the occasion on Threads, calling it a joyful experience and thanking his cast and crew, while sharing photos that included Nicholas Hoult jumping into a lake after the final shot.

Now the marketing machine is quietly starting up. As DC Film News pointed out, all official Superman accounts are now teasing ‘Man of Tomorrow’. The Superman profiles on X, Instagram, Facebook, Threads and TikTok have been updated with new branding for the sequel. Several of the bios now point fans to the film’s July 9, 2027 theatrical release, and the profile image shows Corenswet in costume.

The change has fans wondering whether a first look is coming soon, but Gunn has already tried to manage expectations. When a post on Threads claimed the first trailer was expected in mid-December and would be attached to ‘Dune: Part Three’, Gunn replied by asking who exactly was expecting that.

When a fan accused him of crushing their hype, Gunn said he simply didn’t want people to be disappointed when there’s no trailer in December. Dark Horizons and Film Shrine both read his replies as ruling out a teaser before the end of 2026.

The sequel pairs Superman with his greatest enemy. Corenswet’s hero and Hoult’s Lex Luthor reluctantly team up to take on Brainiac, a superintelligent alien android played by Lars Eidinger.

Luthor will use a powered exoskeleton called the Warsuit to match Superman’s strength. Gunn has described the film as being as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie, and in June he shared a sneak peek of the suit straight from the set.

Rachel Brosnahan returns as Lois Lane, alongside Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher. Edi Gathegi’s Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner and Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl are also back.

Milly Alcock returns as Kara Zor-El, and Aaron Pierre makes his big-screen debut as John Stewart. Xolo Maridueña joins as Jaime Reyes, also known as Blue Beetle, while Adria Arjona, Andre Royo, Matthew Lillard and Sinqua Walls have been cast in undisclosed roles.

Gunn writes and directs the film, producing alongside Peter Safran through DC Studios. Filming took place at Trilith Studios in Georgia, with additional locations in Macon, Atlanta, Cincinnati, and the UK, and Macon’s Terminal Station stood in for the Daily Planet newsroom.

‘Man of Tomorrow’ is the 4th film in the DC Universe and part of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. It’s also expected to be released in IMAX. Even without a trailer, the social media refresh suggests Warner Bros. is starting to lay the groundwork for a big campaign.

With Gunn now ruling out a December trailer, the first footage looks likely to arrive in the new year. Until then, the updated profiles give fans a small reminder that Superman’s next adventure is getting closer.
