This ‘Yaga’ recap and ending explained breakdown covers the installment titled “Dance With The Devil,” which arrives as the pivotal mid-season chapter of the eight-episode debut season. Drugs, sex tapes and ancient symbols lead Carson and Rapp to a local naturopath who may be a key piece of the puzzle. Spoilers follow for everything that happens in the hour.

The series follows Charlie Rapp, a private investigator who arrives in the coastal town of Whittock to investigate the disappearance of Henry Park, the young heir to a powerful fishing business. After the previous chapter, Carson and Rapp discovered Logan’s secret recordings of Henry’s bedroom and a mysterious symbol that seemingly ties the strange events together. The fourth hour pulls on those threads and lands on a closing scene that reframes the mystery.

‘Yaga’ Recap and Pam Under Pressure

The episode opens with a daydream in which Rapp watches a young woman follow the recipe for the secret drug potion, only for her shirt to open and reveal the Celtic symbol before her mask comes off to reveal Pam. It is a neat way to place Pam at the center of the hour before a single question is asked. The investigators have good reason to look at her, since Henry is missing, Logan is dead, and Pam shared an intimate relationship with both men.

Carson joins Pam in the interrogation room and immediately uses Rapp’s coffee trick on her. She then goes after Pam’s relationships, calling Pam weak and treating her as a suspect. The tactic is a notable choice for a character who has so far served as a counterweight to Rapp.

Pam holds together better than expected. She names Hunter Nielson as her alibi and realizes the tapes were a bluff. The interrogation ends without a confession, but it shifts the direction of the case.

Carson, Rapp and the Cult Behind the Symbol

Once Pam is out of the room, the two detectives disagree about where the evidence points. Carson leans toward Henry as the killer, while Rapp believes the cult behind the symbol is the better lead. That split gives the middle of the episode its tension.

One review notes that there were subtle shifts in Carson during the episode that made the writer uneasy, especially given how she handled Pam. The critic argues that this behavior does not fit the person the show has built so far. It is an observation worth keeping in mind as the season moves toward its finale.

The cult angle gets more concrete as well. Rapp and Carson realize that the symbol they keep seeing at random spots is linked to the local cult. Their next step is to find the woman called Laney, whom Angel had just told them about.

Ending Explained and Olena’s Last Words

Rapp and Carson track down Laney’s address and break in when no one answers, but someone slips out the back door and escapes in a car. The house itself offers a clue. Rapp continues to browse through a diary, and from the images it is evident that Laney, also named Olena, is obsessed with Baba Yaga.

The hospital scene is the heart of the hour. Olena calls Rapp ‘Ivan’ and notices the triskele on a piece of her own pottery, saying there must always be three. That phrase echoes the title of a later chapter, which the season schedule lists as ‘There Must Always Be Three’. The repetition suggests the number is central to the show’s mythology.

Rapp then demands to know who the devil is that Henry danced with. Olena says Henry wanted to dance with the devil like her, and by devil she means Baba Yaga. She kisses his hand, whispers the name and seemingly dies as her monitors crash. The word seemingly matters here, because the show never confirms her death on screen.

What Comes Next for Whittock

The closing exchange ties the folklore to the case in a direct way. Earlier in the season, a voiceover from Baba Yaga warned that patriarchal violence always invites ancient retribution. Olena’s answer implies that Henry sought out the same power he may have misused.

Another detail adds to the unease. While Rapp questions Olena, Carson receives a video that was posted to Henry’s account. The episode does not resolve what that video means, which keeps the question of Henry’s fate open.

There is plenty of story left to tell. The final two episodes will arrive together on November 27. Until then, viewers are left to decide whether Olena truly died after whispering that name, or whether her final dance with the devil is only the beginning of what Whittock is hiding.
