A ‘Death Stranding’ Anime Is Reportedly in the Works, Kojima Says

Death Stranding was an abslute gaming hit when it came out and the players are looking forward to the sequel which is set to be released later next month and will hopefully be even better than the first one!
But, the world of Death Stranding is not going to stop there. As you probably know, A24 is working on a movie adaptation of the game, but based on what Hideo Kojima himself said, this won’t be the end either.
Namely, in a recent talk with the Japanese press, Hideo Kojima revealed that not only is a movie in the works, he is also working on an anime adaptation of the popular game, which is awesome!
Hideo Kojima is a very dedicated artist (yes, we can call him an artist), and whose who’ve played his games knows how meticulous he is, as well as how devoted he is to his stories and his character, which is why people are generally excited when Kojima announces a new work.
During a recent interview, he revealed more about his approach to the Death Stranding movie. “I am currently working with A24 on a live-action adaptation of “DEATH STRANDING”. When it comes to adapting games into film, there have been recent films like “The Last of Us” that keep the plot of the original intact, and films like “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” that are more like a service to game fans. Each of these works has its own merits, but as a film lover, I want to pursue cinematic expression. I am aiming to make “DEATH STRANDING” into a film that can only be made into a film, and that will win awards at the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival,” he said.
But, on top of that, Kojima also revealed that he was working on something new: “In fact, we are also currently working on an anime adaptation,” he added, thus confirming that an anime adaptation of the popular game is also going to be made.
We’ve recently seen NieR: Automata being adapted into a brilliant anime series, so another major Japanese game getting a major anime treatment is definitely good news. Details are scarce now, but we will keep you up-to-date, so be sure to keep following us.
