‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ Is Ending, But Season 3 Promises Pip’s Darkest Chapter Yet

Few Netflix series have arrived with quite the cultural impact of ‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’. The British mystery thriller, based on Holly Jackson’s 2019 novel and adapted by Poppy Cogan, originally debuted on BBC iPlayer in the United Kingdom before landing internationally on Netflix in August 2024. Led by Emma Myers as the relentlessly curious amateur sleuth Pip Fitz-Amobi, the show quickly became one of the streamer’s most talked-about young adult offerings.

Season 1 made an immediate and thunderous entrance, debuting at number one on Netflix’s Global Top 10 TV (English) list and even propelling Jackson’s original novel back to the top spot on the New York Times Best Sellers list following the trailer debut. Season 2 returned on May 27, 2026, picking up Pip’s story through Jackson’s second novel, ‘Good Girl, Bad Blood’, and was met with even warmer critical reception than its predecessor, earning a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes alongside a near-perfect 93% audience rating.

Netflix has now officially confirmed that ‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ will return for a third season, but that it will also be its last. The renewal will complete the screen adaptation of Holly Jackson’s bestselling book trilogy, with the final chapter bringing Pip’s ultimate investigation to its gripping conclusion. The bittersweet announcement carries real weight for a fanbase that has grown deeply attached to the world of Little Kilton.

Season 3 will be based on the third and final book in the trilogy, ‘As Good As Dead’, and in a rare twist, Netflix confirmed that the four-episode final season has already wrapped production. The season was shot back-to-back with Season 2 during the back half of 2025, and is currently slated for a global premiere in 2027. While the previous two seasons each contained six episodes, the final run will consist of only four, making it a tighter and more focused farewell.

Jackson, who serves as series co-creator, writer, and executive producer, made her enthusiasm unmistakably clear. Speaking to Netflix Tudum, she said the third book is her favourite of the entire series and promised that audiences will see a version of Pip they have never encountered before, describing the season as dark, breathless, and somehow still funny. Star and executive producer Emma Myers echoed that excitement, calling the third book her personal favourite and urging fans to get ready for a crazy time.

In Season 3, Pip will deal with the lasting impact of her first two investigations and find herself on the trail of another killer, needing all of her wits about her to solve the ultimate mystery and save herself from a deadly fate. The returning ensemble cast includes Zain Iqbal, Henry Ashton, Asha Banks, Jude Morgan-Collie, Eden H Davies, and Yali Topol Margalith.

Season 2 debuted at number nine on the Global Top 10 with 1.8 million views in its first week, representing a viewership decline of more than 76 percent compared to the first season. Whether that dip factored into the decision to end the show with a shorter final run remains an open question, though the production timing strongly suggests Netflix and the creative team had always intended to see the full trilogy through. Either way, Pip Fitz-Amobi is getting her ending, and if Jackson’s promise of something “dark and breathless” holds true, it sounds like it will be one worth waiting for. Are you ready to say goodbye to Little Kilton, or do you think ‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ deserves more than three seasons to tell its story?
