Adria Arjona Reveals She Nearly Let Her ‘Man of Tomorrow’ Secret Role Slip
Adria Arjona may have one of the most closely guarded secrets in James Gunn’s new DC Universe, and she nearly gave fans a major clue away. The actor has spent months avoiding questions about her role in ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ but during a recent interview, she admitted that keeping the secret has become much harder than expected.
The mystery around Arjona’s character has been growing ever since her casting in the Superman sequel became known. Gunn is bringing David Corenswet back as Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. The movie will also feature Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Milly Alcock, and Lars Eidinger. Arjona is part of that large cast, but exactly who she plays is still being kept under wraps.
That has given fans plenty of room to guess. The two biggest theories so far are Maxima and Wonder Woman. Arjona recently addressed both rumors and did little to make things easier. She described the idea that she “may be, or may be not playing Maxima… or Wonder Woman” as the wildest thing she has heard about herself.
Her comments to Screen Rant made it clear that she is trying to find the right balance between answering questions and protecting the movie. During an appearance on Screen Rant’s Coffee Chats, Arjona explained just how tricky that has become. “I don’t want to lie, but I also want to protect the audience’s experience,” she said. She then added, “It’s a little dance that I’m learning to navigate, and it’s hard. It’s really hard. I almost got busted.”
The biggest danger came when she was asked to give three words that could act as clues to her character without actually spoiling anything. Arjona admitted that she already had three words in her head before realizing she probably should not say them. She stopped herself just in time and joked that she had “just got into the DC universe” and did not want to get fired.
That moment may have been harmless, but it gave fans another reason to believe there is something important about her role. Arjona has continued to tease the character without actually confirming anything, and another interview created even more questions.
While speaking with Josh Horowitz on ‘Happy Sad Confused,’ Arjona talked about her costume for the movie. She said she loved it and then added that she loved “both of them.” That small comment was enough to send fans back into detective mode. If she really has two costumes, some are wondering whether that could point toward multiple identities, a transformation, or even more than one appearance in the film.
There is another side to the role that Arjona has been much more willing to discuss. Preparing for ‘Man of Tomorrow’ has required serious physical work. She previously told Screen Rant that she developed “muscles that I’ve never had in my life” while training for two to three hours a day. She also followed a strict diet during the process and joked about relying heavily on coffee to get through it.
The project is also a full-circle moment for Arjona. She worked with Gunn and Peter Safran years before joining the new DC Universe, when they were involved with 2016’s ‘The Belko Experiment.’ Returning to work with them on such a major superhero project has made the experience even more meaningful for her.
For now, though, Arjona is sticking to the plan and keeping her character secret. ‘Man of Tomorrow’ is expected to arrive in 2027, so fans still have plenty of time to study every interview, costume detail, and suspicious comment for clues.
Until Gunn or Arjona finally reveals the truth, the Maxima and Wonder Woman theories will probably keep growing. And judging by how close Arjona came to slipping up, there may be a lot more teasing before the mystery is finally solved.
What do you think Adria Arjona’s secret role will mean for the DCU?
