From one huge franchise to another. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gemini Man and Birds of Prey star Mary Elizabeth Winstead joined Ahsoka, the upcoming Star Wars series which begins production soon and it’s expected to arrive next year on Disney+.
Rosario Dawson debuted as live-action Ahsoka in one episode of the second season of The Mandalorian. In December 2020, Disney officially announced that the spin-off series centered on the character in development. Rosario Dawson is set to reprise the role, and Hayden Christensen is also set to reprise the role of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.
Natasha Liu Bordizzo and Ivanna Sakhno are also set to star in the series in undisclosed roles, and Winstead’s role is also being kept under wraps for now. The production is set to begin next spring, with the release window set for 2023.
Ahsoka is only one of the multiple Star Wars shows that are in development for Disney+. The newest series, The Book of Boba Fett, recently premiered on Disney+, but fans are also expecting the third season of Mandalorian, as well as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, Lando, and The Acolyte.
