Akame ga Kill! Season 2: Release Date, Trailer, Plot, Characters, And More

Akame ga Kill! is a manga series written by Takahiro and illustrated by Tetsuya Tashiro. It was published between March 2010 and December 2016 in Square Enix’s Gangan Joker magazine and was compiled into a total of fifteen volumes. An animated television series adaptation produced by studio White Fox aired between July and December 2014. Here is what is known about the potential second season of Akame ga Kill!.

The second season of Akame ga Kill! is highly unlikely. When the original anime ended, it wrapped up the story and included an original ending, which would make it hard for the producers to actually continue the story from the manga, as it would require a lot of changes in the anime’s original ending. A reboot or an adaptation of Akame ga Kill! Zero are more likely, but we don’t even see that happening, at least not soon.

The rest of this article is going to bring you all the known and unknown information related to a potential season 2 of Akame ga Kill!. You’re going to find out about its potential release date, whether there is a trailer, what the story could be about, and much more about this great anime series.

Will There Be a Akame ga Kill! Season 2? Akame ga Kill! Season 2 Release Date

The first season of Akame ga Kill! aired between July 7, 2014 and December 15, 2014, having a total of 24 episodes in its only season; the first season adapted roughly half of the manga (first eight volumes), with the second half remaining unadapted. When the first season of Akame ga Kill! aired, the manga had not yet been completed, which is why the producers decided to come up with an original ending.

Now, the anime adaptation of Akame ga Kill! wasn’t that successful, we have to say. A lot of critics were displeased with the whole concept, and although the series wasn’t really planned, it was far from well-received and its popularity wasn’t that high. This is probably what contributed to the show’s swift cancellation after its first season, and the ending definitely contributed to that.

The ending of the anime was original and the producers and writers decided to wrap the story before it actually ended, concluding the adaptation of the first eight volumes of the manga as if it were the whole thing. The ending was described as “miserable” by several different sources and caused a backlash from the fans. So, what does that mean for the future of the show?

akame ga kill season 2 1200x720 1

Everything we’ve said so far points to one thing – Akame ga Kill! is unlikely to return for a second season. The lukewarm reception of the show’s only season, as well as the fact that so many years have passed since its ending all point to Akame ga Kill! entering the history books.

The show simply wasn’t that popular and the dissatisfaction of the fans with the anime’s ending contribute to this. The producers would actually have to reconfigure the whole ending of the first season to successfully adapt the second half of the manga, which is unlikely.

Taking all of this into account, Akame ga Kill! probably won’t return. It is more likely that we’ll see a reboot of the show or an adaptation of the Akame ga Kill! Zero manga, but we don’t see that happening either, at least not soon.

Agame ga Kill! Season 2 Trailer

Now that you know our thoughts and the facts related to Akame ga Kill! season 2, you’ve probably deduced for yourselves that there is no trailer for the second season of Akame ga Kill! and that there probably won’t be one at all.

As we have said, Akame ga Kill! is a very unlikely candidate for renewal, seeing how the first season was a fiasco and how it caused a lot of dissatisfaction among the fans. Also, so many years have passed since the first season’s ending that a continuation seems silly, although there have been examples (most recently, Bleach is coming back after almost ten years) of such continuations, but Akame ga Kill! is probably not going to be among them.

Taking into account everything we’ve said, a trailer for Akame ga Kill! season two is unlikely to appear.
