All 17 Dancing Pokémon Ranked: Including Moves, Abilities & Weaknesses

All x Dancing Pokémon ranked: Including Moves, Abilities & Weaknesses

As Professor Oak once said, the world of Pokémon is full of amazing creatures. Throughout the eight generations, players and fans have been introduced to a variety of different creatures, each of them resembling different animals, objects, or some other, more abstract, concepts. One such concept is dance. Dance is difficult to present in the form of a specific Pokémon, but there are some species that are obviously dance-oriented.

We are going to rank these Pokémon based on their PokéDex numbers and provide you with some basic information on each of them, including their moves, abilities, and weaknesses. We’re also going to answer some additional questions about each of the Pokémon. Let us begin!

Clefairy

Number#035
GenerationI
TypesFairy
AbilitiesCute Charm: Contact with the Pokémon may cause infatuation.
Magic Guard: The Pokémon only takes damage from attacks.
Friend Guard: Reduces damage done to allies.
WeaknessesPoison, Steel

Clefairy is based on a pixie. Although he is rare to see normally, he can be seen on full moon nights; on those occasions, they go out in groups to play, and a mysterious magnetic field is generated around them. When the moonlight bathes his wings, they give off a faint glow, and without even flapping them, he is able to float in the air, giving him the appearance of an adorable fairy.

At dawn, the exhausted Clefairy return to their mountain lodges to sleep huddled together. Clefairy is a very popular Pokémon around the world because of its sweet appearance, friendly nature, and adorable cry. It is said that happiness will come to those who see a group of Clefairy dancing in the light of the full moon.

This Pokémon inhabits quiet mountains where it lives with other members of its species or evolutionary family, such as Mount Moon. In the anime, it is believed that they may come from outer space and they have been seen to be able to create flying ships.

Clefable

Number#036
GenerationI
TypesFairy
AbilitiesCute Charm: Contact with the Pokémon may cause infatuation.
Magic Guard: The Pokémon only takes damage from attacks.
Unaware: When attacking, the Pokémon ignores the target Pokémon’s stat changes.
WeaknessesPoison, Steel

Clefable is based on a pixie. This fairy Pokémon is said to live in groups deep in the mountains, in quiet and far away areas. He is charming and very shy, so he does not like to be seen in front of people. Its sensitive ears allow it to distinguish distant sounds, which is why it prefers to live in quiet places. This sensitivity is such that it is able to hear the drop of a pin 1 km away, and uses it to protect and be aware of its own surroundings.

Clefable moves by jumping using his wings. These allow him to walk through water, but not to fly. He loves to take walks around the lakes on quiet full moon nights. Spotting a Clefable couple hopping around is said to bring happiness to a marriage. Some scientists maintain that when he stares at the sky on full moon nights it is because he feels homesick and tries to listen to the voices of his companions left behind on the moon.

GenerationII
TypesFairy
AbilitiesCute Charm: Contact with the Pokémon may cause infatuation.
Magic Guard: The Pokémon only takes damage from attacks.
Friend Guard: Reduces damage done to allies.
WeaknessesPoison, Steel

Cleffa is based on a pixie. Because of her unusual star shape, people believe that she came from a meteorite that fell to earth. When there is a meteor shower, groups of Cleffa can be seen dancing in circles at night. They only stop during the day; then they stop dancing and drink the morning dew. After this, they disappear with the sun.

It is said that watching this show can bring good luck. Wherever a meteorite has hit, it will be very likely to find this Pokémon. Interestingly, when various meteors light up the night sky, Cleffa’s eyesight improves in strange ways. This Pokémon remembers its home when it looks at the sky during a meteor shower.

Bellossom

Number#183
GenerationII
TypesGrass
AbilitiesChlorophyll: Boosts the Pokémon’s Speed stat in harsh sunlight.
Healer: Sometimes heals an ally’s status condition.
WeaknessesFire, Ice, Flying, Poison, Fire

Bellossom is inspired by the Rafflesia flower and a hula dancer. Bellossom is a Pokémon that lives mainly in the southern areas and loves the sun and company. Unlike Oddish, Bellossom loves to expose himself to sunlight and perform a peculiar dance. It is said that the flowers that adorn its head are more beautiful the more stench the Gloom from which Bellossom evolved was given off.

If you look closely at the flowers on its head, you can see that it bears a certain resemblance to the Vileplume flower. When the rainy season ends, the Bellossom perform a peculiar dance to invoke the sun. Bellossom is a very sweet and friendly Pokémon that is always happy with its trainer. When night falls, this Pokémon closes the petals of its flowers and goes to sleep.

Sudowoodo

Number#185
GenerationII
TypesRock
AbilitiesSturdy: It cannot be knocked out with one hit. One-hit KO moves cannot knock it out, either.
Rock Head: Protects the Pokémon from recoil damage.
Rattled: Dark-, Ghost-, and Bug-type moves scare the Pokémon and boost its Speed stat.
WeaknessesFighting, Ground, Steel, Water, Grass

The reason why Sudowoodo looks like a tree is because it only pretends to be one, although it is a Rock-type. Sudowoodo is known as the imitator Pokémon. Sudowoodo loves being mistaken for a tree. If his presence is discovered, he runs to hide. Depending on the season, it grabs different kinds of branches in order to better blend in with its surrounding environment. Therefore, it is very difficult to spot them.

However, since the green pods of this Pokémon remain green throughout the year, even in winter, their camouflage fails, making them easy to identify. He is afraid and hates water, in any of its manifestations. If he sees it, he will run away, unless he is able to face his fears.

Hitmontop

Number#237
GenerationII
TypesFighting
AbilitiesIntimidate: The Pokémon intimidates opposing Pokémon upon entering battle, lowering their Attack stat.
Technician: Powers up the Pokémon’s weaker moves.
Steadfast: The Pokémon’s determination boosts the Speed stat each time the Pokémon flinches.
WeaknessesPsychic, Flying, Fairy

Hitmontop is based on a spinning top and a capoeira fighter. Although at first glance he may appear to have 3 legs, he only has 2, and a very powerful tail with which he strikes. Hitmontop does a handstand with the little horn on his head and spins fast as he kicks out. This is an offensive and defensive technique at the same time, as it helps you throw kick after kick while also throwing your opponent off the scent.

The centrifugal force of the spins multiplies the destructive power of his kicks tenfold. This Pokémon moves faster by turning on itself than walking. If he gets too fast, he can dig a hole in the ground and end up underground.

Hitmontop controls his kicks to perfection, so they can be smooth, graceful, and dancey, or powerful and devastating. It’s easy for opponents or trainers to gawk at him moving, causing them to get bruised from the hits.

Ludicolo

Number#272
GenerationIII
TypesWater, Grass
AbilitiesSwift Swim: Boosts the Pokémon’s Speed stat in rain.
Rain Dish: The Pokémon gradually regains HP in rain.
Own Tempo: This Pokémon has its own tempo, and that prevents it from becoming confused.
WeaknessesFlying, Poison, Bug

Ludicolo is based on a combination of a kappa, a duck, a pineapple, and a Colonquintidae. The top of Ludicolo’s head resembles a Mexican hat. The skin that covers almost the entire body seems to be based on a poncho. The bill is similar to that of the ducks, although it is not as long. This Pokémon bears a vague resemblance to a Mexican mariachi due to its body shape, the hat it is wearing, and its cheerful, dancing character.

Ludicolo’s cells are revolutionized and filled with energy when he hears rhythmic and happy sounds, so he starts dancing with a lot of rhythm as soon as he hears party music. This energy also takes her to combat where she also shows off this great amount of energy, making her not flinch even in front of the strongest enemy. Wild Ludicolo often appear when they hear children singing on hiking trips.

Kirlia

Number#281
GenerationIII
TypesPsychic, Fairy
AbilitiesSynchronize: The attacker will receive the same status condition if it inflicts a burn, poison, or paralysis to the Pokémon.
Trace: When it enters a battle, the Pokémon copies an opposing Pokémon’s Ability.
Telepathy: Anticipates an ally’s attack and dodges it.
WeaknessesPoison, Ghost, Steel

Kirlia is a dancing Pokémon that can stand on its tiptoes without falling (like a ballet dancer). She has thick white fur that delicately opens into a small skirt. Kirlia can cause mirages that confuse the opponent in combat. She has a highly developed brain. It is said that if Kirlia is exposed to the positive emotions of the trainer she becomes more beautiful.

When fighting, these Pokémon rely on their psychic and psychokinetic powers to weaken their opponents as quickly as possible. Kirlia, like Ralts, Gardevoir, and Gallade, is able to sense her trainer’s feelings, and depending on them, Kirlia will feel the same way. This is because Kirlia has a high level of empathy.

Gardevoir

Number#282
GenerationIII
TypesPsychic, Fairy
AbilitiesSynchronize: The attacker will receive the same status condition if it inflicts a burn, poison, or paralysis to the Pokémon.
Trace: When it enters a battle, the Pokémon copies an opposing Pokémon’s Ability.
Telepathy: Anticipates an ally’s attack and dodges it.
Pixilate: Normal-type moves become Fairy-type moves. The power of those moves is boosted a little.
WeaknessesPoison, Ghost, Steel

Gardevoir is based on a prima ballerina, who is the highest-ranking of a company. Her fine and small features refer to anesama ningyou, traditional Japanese dolls that are characterized by wearing elegant clothes, and her nature to protect her trainer and take care of them, is a reference to guardian angels.

Gardevoir’s mood is closely related to his trainer’s, meaning if his trainer is worried or sad, Gardevoir will be too. Conversely, if its trainer is happy or elated, Gardevoir will feel just as well. Its psychic powers are disconcertingly strong thanks to his well-developed brain, which far exceeds that of a human being, so he is also able to see situations that are going to happen in the future.

Medicham

Number#308
GenerationIII
TypesFighting, Psychic
AbilitiesPure Power: Using its pure power, the Pokémon doubles its Attack stat.
Telepathy: Anticipates an ally’s attack and dodges it.
WeaknessesFlying, Ghost, Fairy

Medicham likes meditation so much that he sometimes forgets his own needs. Some people claim to have seen Medicham levitating in full meditation. They usually live in Buddhist temples, located in high and cold places, along with Meditite.

They are especially known for their strength of will, their agility in combat, and their power with martial arts. Part of that agility comes precisely from his meditations, which give him the power to anticipate the enemy’s movements. They are also capable of sensing their trainer’s feelings, much like Gardevoir or Lucario.

Spinda

Number#327
GenerationIII
TypesNormal
AbilitiesOwn Tempo: This Pokémon has its own tempo, and that prevents it from becoming confused.
Tangled Feet: Raises evasiveness if the Pokémon is confused.
Contrary: Makes stat changes have an opposite effect.
WeaknessesFighting

Spinda is based on a Qinling panda, though he has rabbit-like ears. Its brown skin has reddish spots, the position of which varies from one Spinda to another. This Pokémon has an unstable way of walking, it staggers. It gives the feeling of dancing and being dizzy. He staggers so much that he can confuse his enemy, causing his aim to miss. He also amazingly dodges the attacks of the rivals thanks to his staggers.

Although Spinda intends to walk in a straight line, it can’t help but wobble unsteadily and clumsily. If it walks for a long period, Spinda himself may become dizzy. Although it is said that no two Spinda have the same drawings on their fur, the truth is that the probability exists. However, this is so low that it is practically impossible, being less than 1 in 4,000,000,000. Some scholars enjoy analyzing the various patterns.

GenerationIII
TypesDragon, Flying
AbilitiesNatural Cure: All status conditions heal when the Pokémon switches out.
Cloud Nine: Eliminates the effects of weather.
Pixilate: Normal-type moves become Fairy-type moves. The power of those moves is boosted a little.
WeaknessesRock, Ice, Dragon, Fairy

This Pokémon seems to have clouds instead of wings, which is useful for not being detected while flying freely in the sky. This Pokémon can be found flying in the skies of temperate places such as islands or beaches depending on the weather and the abundance of berries and other fruits. When winter arrives in an area, they usually migrate to another place where the cold is not intense, in this process they move along with the entire flock and rest in a cave at night.

When resting, due to the cold, they all gather together and huddle together for warmth. The Swablu often also participate in this process. Altaria is a peaceful Pokémon, when it feels threatened it uses its feathers to hide with its wings in the air and camouflage itself in the sky with the clouds. It is known to use its fluffy wings to catch air currents and so rise quickly.

In addition to being a Pokémon with great defense, it uses its beautiful and high-pitched song to attract a mate or defend itself, in case the opponent falls asleep. This is why it is known as the singing Pokémon. Singing melodies with its crystal-clear voice, this Pokémon leaves its listeners in awe and wonder.

Primarina

Number#730
GenerationVII
TypesWater, Fairy
AbilitiesTorrent: Powers up Water-type moves when the Pokémon’s HP is low.
Liquid Voice: All sound-based moves become Water-type moves.
WeaknessesPoison, Grass, Electric

Primarina is based on a sea lion, as well as a mermaid and an opera singer. When dancing, Primarina releases water balloons around her and moves them using the sound waves of her voice. When the moonlight reflects off these globes, the resulting show is almost magical. By using his voice to control them, the slightest injury to his vocal cords can be a serious setback.

His biggest enemies are the arid environments and the excessive use of the voice in consecutive fights. Some of the balloons released by Primarina burst on contact and others do not. The rest serve as a springboard for him to move around as he taunts his rivals and uses a variety of explosions to set off some of them.

The songs of Primarina present a multitude of variations that affect the movement of the balloons in different ways. It has been found that they share them with their congeners, so each colony has distinctive songs.
