All Tyler Perry TV Shows on BET+ (Ranked)

Tyler Perry is one of Hollywood’s highest-paid American actors, comedians, and filmmakers. He came into prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s with his stage plays and, notably, a television series called Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, which ran for ten seasons on the TBS network. Since then, Perry has become one of Hollywood’s most successful American creators and actors with projects like Gone Girl and Don’t Look Up.
In 2017, Tyler Perry signed a massive film and television contract with Viacom and, two years later, started producing the TV series The Oval and Sistas for the television network BET. With the deal, he started co-owning a newly launched streaming platform BET+. In this article, we will rank all of Tyler Perry’s TV shows on BET and provide you with information for each one. If you are interested, stay with us until the end of the article.
10. Meet the Browns (2009-2012)
We start this list with a spin-off of another Tyler Perry project House of Payne, and the film of the same name. The TV show Meet the Browns premiered on January 7, 2009, and ran for five seasons until 2011. The sitcom follows Mr. Brown, who runs a senior citizen’s home in Georgia with his daughter Cora Simmons. The show later focused on the Brown family itself and their lives.
The show wasn’t successful as Perry’s stage play and film of the same name, but it still served as a good passing time show. Meet the Browns are available for streaming on the BET+ platform.
9. House of Payne (2006-)
One of the first TV shows Perry ever worked on was House of Payne. The show first premiered in 2006 and has nine seasons. The show is still airing today, and it has “only” nine seasons since 2006 because it changed TV networks over the years.
The series follows a multigenerational family living in Atlanta, with Curtis and Ella Payne being the main characters. House of Payne is primarily a sitcom with slapstick comedy, which follows one story arc for a particular season. Moreover, the show reminds us of popular African-American-centered shows in the 1990s, like Family Matters and Cosby Show, which also covered sensitive topics like drug addiction and abuse. Today, House of Payne is the longest-running African-American-centred show of all time.
8. Bruh (2019-)
We are moving away from older TV shows and presenting you with an American comedy called Bruh. Another Tyler Perry TV show premiered in 2020 on BET+ and has three seasons today. It is set in the same universe as another Perry show called Sistas, and it follows a group of 30-year-old men exploring the world of dating, relationships, and overall life.
Four men have been friends since their college days and are dealing with their own problems that stem from love life, finances, and everyday life. Bruh deals with the lives of African-American men in the United States, and it offers many comedic aspects of everyday life’s obstacles.
7. The Oval (2019-)
This Tyler Perry TV show is a bit different from the rest of the entries on this list. The Oval is a political drama and soap opera that first premiered on BET in 2019, and since then, it has had four seasons aired today. The show follows the chronicles of the family who live in the White House while also highlighting the personal problems of each staff member who works in the American President’s headquarters.
The show closely follows the life of American President Hunter Franklin and his family. The Oval is probably one of the more successful soap operas on the market, and its format closely resembles another American soap opera classic, The Days of Our Lives.
6. Madea’s Farewell Play (2020)
We already mentioned that Tyler Perry is a successful playwright who created many stage plays that were later adapted to television. One of his more successful works is his comedy stage play and character of Madea, and its final tour, Madea’s Farewell. Over the years, the character Madea was Perry’s one of the most important characters that made people laugh. This entry is actually the final play and performance of this notable character.
We cheated a bit and put the TV film version of the stage play on the list, but since Madea’s adventures are one of the more notable Perry works available on BET+, we need to add it. Madea’s Farewell follows the matriarch driving to rural Georgia to visit her family to celebrate her great-grandson’s graduation from law school. Everything seems fine until Darlene’s ex-husband shows up and tries to ruin everything. Madea is there to help her troubled family.
5. Assisted Living (2020-)
Another sitcom on this list is the TV series called Assisted Living. Tyler Perry, once again, created and produced the show that premiered on BET in 2020. The show has three seasons, and 63 episodes aired today and is essentially a continuation of the previous entry on this list, Meet the Browns.
Assisted Living follows the life of Jeremy, whose life abruptly changes after he loses his job. The misfortune brings him and his family back to Georgia to their crazy grandfather, who recently bought a run-down home for the elderly. Mr. Brown and Cora reprise their roles in the show and help prevent the complicated situation from escalating.
4. Ruthless (2020-)
One of the rare dramas on this list is Ruthless, another spin-off series, this time from the political drama soap opera, The Oval. Ruthless follows Ruth Truesdale, entangled with a scandalous cult of sex-crazed fanatics. She must find a way to free herself and her innocent daughter and prevent the cult from harming them.
The show started airing in 2020 on BET+ and has released three seasons and fifty-four episodes since then. This TV show is another fully created, produced, and written project by Tyler Perry himself.
3. Sistas (2019-)
Tyler Perry values the representation of black people but also strong, independent black women. Sistas is a comedy-drama TV show created, written, and produced by Tyler Perry. It first aired on the BET TV network in 2019, and since then, it has aired five seasons and 97 episodes.
Sistas follows a group of single black women with different backgrounds who bond over being single and trying to find true love. Careers, friendships, and various partners will affect these women, who also need to navigate the obstacles of modern life.
2. All the Queen’s Men (2021 -)
We mentioned strong, independent women in the previous entry on this list, and All the Queen’s Men falls comfortably in that tier. All the Queen’s Men is a show that first premiered in 2021 on the BET+ streaming platform and has aired two seasons and twenty-one episodes.
Tyler Perry is an executive producer and writer for the show, but this time he joined forces with Christian Keys, whose book Ladies Night served as source material for the show. All the Queen’s Men follows the story of Marylin “Madam” DeVille, a successful and fierce businesswoman in the male exotic nightclub industry. Of course, on her journey to expand her business, Madam finds herself against the problems and difficulties in the underground entertainment industry.
1. Zatima (2022-)
Finally, we have a new series to finish on this Tyler Perry list. Zatima is a comedy-drama TV show created by Tyler Perry, and it is a spin-off of another show on this list, Sistas. Zatima has one season and ten episodes, and it follows the couple Zatima and Zac, who are trying to navigate obstacles and happy moments of their romantic relationship.
The show is currently airing on BET+, and it got positive reviews from its audience. One of many upcoming Tyler Perry projects coming to BET+ streaming platforms.
