The ‘John Wick’ universe is growing, and it’s bringing some serious action with it. A fresh trailer just dropped for ‘Ballerina’, a spinoff I can’t wait to see. This time, Ana de Armas steps into the spotlight, facing off against the legendary John Wick himself, played by Keanu Reeves. It’s a brutal, gory showdown that promises to keep us on the edge of our seats.

Ana de Armas stars as Eve Macarro, a ballerina with a deadly twist. She’s not just dancing her way across the stage—she’s training to become an assassin with the Ruska Roma, a group we first glimpsed in ‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum’. The story picks up between the events of that film and ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’, giving us a new angle on this world of killers. Eve’s out for revenge after her family’s murder, and she’s not holding back.

‘John Wick 5’ Is Happening—But Will Keanu Reeves Return?

Then there’s Keanu Reeves, back as John Wick. He’s not the main focus here, but he’s definitely part of the action. The trailer teases a fierce clash between him and Eve, and it looks like they’re throwing everything they’ve got at each other. I can already imagine the choreography—fast, messy, and full of that ‘John Wick’ style we love. Reeves has been a staple of this franchise since it kicked off in 2014, and even in a supporting role, he’s a big draw.

The cast doesn’t stop there. We’ve got Ian McShane returning as Winston, the slick hotel owner, and Anjelica Huston as The Director, the head of the Ruska Roma. Lance Reddick is back too, playing Charon in what’ll be his final role after his passing in 2023. New faces like Norman Reedus and Gabriel Byrne join the lineup, adding some extra grit to the mix. It’s directed by Len Wiseman, the guy behind ‘Underworld’ and ‘Live Free or Die Hard’, so expect some wild action scenes.

‘Ballerina’ has been in the works for a while. Filming started in Prague back in November 2022, and they wrapped up the main shoot a while ago. But they went back for more—Chad Stahelski, the mastermind of the ‘John Wick’ series, teamed up with Wiseman to punch up the action even further. That extra effort pushed the release date from June 2024 to June 6, 2025.

Does John Wick Die in Chapter 4? Explained

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Ana de Armas kick butt. She stole scenes in ‘No Time to Die’ as a fierce operative, and now she’s carrying a whole movie. She’s talked about how tough the stunts were—bruises, sore muscles, the works. Pair that with Reeves, who’s no stranger to insane fight scenes, and you’ve got a recipe for something explosive. The ‘John Wick’ films have raked in over a billion dollars worldwide, so there’s a lot riding on this spinoff.

What’s cool is how ‘Ballerina’ fits into the bigger picture. It’s not just a side story—it ties right into the main timeline. Eve’s journey could shake things up for John Wick and his world. And with more projects like a Donnie Yen ‘Caine’ movie and a TV series called ‘John Wick: Under the High Table’ in development, this universe isn’t slowing down anytime soon. For now, though, all eyes are on Ana de Armas and that bloody showdown with Keanu Reeves. June can’t come fast enough.
