As far as Star Wars are concerned, we all know that Anakin Skywalker is one of the most important characters in the whole franchise. The boy who was supposed to bring balance to the Force betrayed the Jedi and became Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine’s most powerful puppet.

This article is going to include a list of the 30 best and most memorable Anakin Skywalker quotes, as they have appeared in the Star Wars canon. We have found some great lines from the movies, as well as the TV shows so we hope you’ll enjoy them!

30. “I’m a person, and my name is Anakin!”

A very touching introduction, showing that despite being one, Anakin never perceived himself as a slave. This reply was given to Padmé in a moment when neither of them knew how their story would evolve.

29. “She would do her duty.”

Padmé fell out of a ship. Okay? Anakin wanted to save her, Obi-Wan wanted to pursue Dooku, knowing that someone else would save the queen. After an exchange of words, Obi-Wan asked: “Come to your senses! What do you think Padmé would do were she in your position?” Anakin replied as quoted.

28. “It’s all Obi-Wan’s fault! He’s jealous! He’s holding me back!”

This happened in a moment when the Dark Side was slowly getting to Anakin, transforming him into a Sith Lord. He thought that his Master was holding him back because he was more powerful than him, which was far from the truth.

27. “Love won’t save you, Padmé, only my new powers can do that.”

Dark Anakin at his best, yet again! No, no, there are no emotions, there’s no love, nothing, except the brute power of the Dark Side. Did it work? Absolutely not.

26. “What have I done?!”
Anakinredeemed

It’s a bit too late to ask yourself this after you’ve assisted Palpatine in killing Mace Windu, right? But okay, you betrayed your former crew, that happens; luckily for you that Palpatine took you into his crew, right?

25. “I am a slow learner.”

He actually wasn’t, but Anakin had a history of witty remarks, and this one, addressed to the pompous Count Dooku, was perfect.

24. “The Separatists have been ‘taken care of’, my Master.”

Grievous had sent the Separatists to Mustafar, promising the safety. He died in the meantime, but even he himself did not know that Palpatine would send his new teacher’s pet to slaughter them all. Strangely, Anakin had gotten the hang of it by then.

23. “This is the end for you, my master.”

Yeah, don’t really trust Anakin if you want a prediction of your future; the guy’s got a horrible track record. He thought he could defeat Obi-Wan Kenobi but he was left for dead with just one limb, almost completely burned.

22. “You cant! He must stand trial.”

First, you discover him, and then you betray him to the Jedi. Then you want to defeat him but stay behind. Then you disobey that and arrive just in time to preach justice, just before you chop your ally’s hand and let the enemy kill him. Sure, he had to stand trial…

21. “I will do whatever you… ask.”

Anakin had a history of doing whatever people wanted of him. Sadly, it was usually the wrong people he did it for. This was said to Palpatine just after he had helped him kill Mace Windu. Kudos?

20. “Don’t lecture me, Obi-Wan. I see through the lies of the Jedi. I do not fear the Dark Side as you do. I have brought peace, freedom, justice and security to my new empire!”

Obi-Wan, of course, wasn’t lecturing him. He tried to help him. But Anakin was too corrupted by the Dark Side at this point that Obi-Wan’s words were completely futile. And again, Anakin’s predictions were completely off in the end.

19. “Luke, help me take… this mask off.”

A final moment of redemption. The dying Vader becoming Anakin Skywalker once again, seeing his son, for the first and last time, without his mask. This was one of the most touching moments of the saga.

18. “I pledge myself to your teachings.”

Of course, you would, you arrogant prick! You wanted power and you wanted what was forbidden to you, of course, you’d fall for a con artist like Palpatine.

17. “I need him!”

He thought he needed him, but while he did see through his cover, he never saw through Palpatine’s lies and manipulations. Palpatine cared only for himself, and it took a while for Anakin to realize it.

16. “Master, the Chancellor is very powerful. You’ll need my help if you’re going to arrest him.”

Yeah, listen, Mace Windu was the best swordsman among the Jedi and, as he would demonstrate, he was able to handle Palpatine alone. Were it not for your idiotic move, Palpatine would have been dead. So yeah, they did not need your help, they needed you to stay put. Which you didn’t do.

15. “I’m going to turn you over to the Jedi Council.”

Yeah, not gonna happen, kid. Maybe you thought you would do it and maybe you’d have done it had Windu allowed you to go, but you messed up so much before that Windu rightfully mistrusted you. He did tell the Council, but he never turned him over to it.

14. “Mom, you said that the biggest problem in the universe is that no one helps each other.”

This was a younger Anakin, a character that was almost completely pure when Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan met him. His mother was a wise, yet sad woman and she tried her best to teach Anakin the true values of life. The only issue is that Anakin wanted more than these values.

13. “I hate you!”

Well, one does tend to hate someone who just cut off three of your limbs, left you with full-body burns, and left you to die on a volcanic planet somewhere in the Outer Rim. Okay, he’s forgetting that he wanted to kill him too, but that doesn’t matter anymore.

12. “Your mistake!”

Yeah, if we had a dollar for every wrong prediction Anakin had, we’d be quite rich. Ironically, it was he who made the mistake in this instance and it was he who almost died because of it.

11. “Well, I should be! Some day I will be… I will be the most powerful Jedi ever. I promise you. I will even learn to stop people from dying.”

Just another classic Anakin wanting everything and everything else. He wanted to become the most powerful Jedi ever but his arrogance blinded him and he never fulfilled his fate.

10. “If you are suffering as much as I am, please, tell me.”

Love was something forbidden to the Jedi, simply because they had to keep their emotions balanced, and love, however beautiful, was also a source of suffering in some situations. Anakin loved Padmé, and although Obi-Wan was sympathetic towards this, Anakin couldn’t control his emotions properly.

9. “You will try.”

As we’ve stated, Anakin was horrible at predictions. Obi-Wan stated that he would fulfill his duty, even if it meant killing Anakin, if he couldn’t turn him back. Anakin’s arrogance thought otherwise. You can guess who was right.

8. “Thank you… my master.”
Anakin Skywalker

The ultimate moment of betrayal – Anakin swearing allegiance to his new master, Darth Sidious, and becoming Darth Vader. Probably the saga’s darkest moment.

7. “Something is happening. I’m not the Jedi I should be. I want more, but I know I shouldn’t.”

Anakin wasn’t stupid. He noticed he was changing, but he couldn’t really explain it. The Dark Side was taking hold of him even before he actually met Palpatine and succumbed to his manipulations. Why? Simply because he wanted more than he should have.

6. “If you’re not with me, then you’re my enemy!”

Only a Sith deals in absolutes, Obi-Wan said to this. And that was true, actually. Anakin either had an enemy, or he had an ally. There was nothing between these two categories, which is why Obi-Wan’s words were pretty useless in the end.

5. “You underestimate my power!”

Well now, isn’t this yet another of Anakin’s failed predictions? His arrogance had blinded him so much that he completely ignored Obi-Wan’s plea not to attack him, as Obi-Wan had the high ground. Anakin didn’t listen, he went for it and… well, we all know what happened then.

4. “I killed them. I killed them all. They’re dead, every single one of them. And not just the men, but the women, and the children, too! They’re like animals, and I slaughtered them like animals! I hate them!”

Okay, they weren’t Younglings, they were the Sand People that kidnapped, enslaved, and tortured his mother so it’s a bit understandable but it was a clear sign that Anakin was very close to the Dark Side.

3. “I thought you were the one with the plan.”
Clone Wars Anakin Ahsoka Reunion

Just like him and Obi-Wan, Anakin had a very dynamic relationship with his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, and the two exchanged some brilliant moments during The Clone Wars saga.

2. “Don’t say that, master. You’re the closest thing I have to a father.”

Obi-Wan asked Anakin this: “Why do I get the feeling you’re going to be the death of me?” Anakin replied as quoted, to which Obi-Wan added: “Then why don’t you listen to me?” This is a standard Prequel Trilogy interaction between the two.

1. “You already have, Luke. You were right. You were right about me. Tell your sister, you were right.”

A touching ending for a redeemed Darth Vader, who admits to his son that he was right about him this whole time. Luke had faith in his father’s good side and that faith proved to be correct at this point.
