Anne Hathaway’s ‘Verity’ press tour has been one of the busiest of the season, packed with premieres, talk show appearances, and viral fashion moments. The psychological thriller, based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, finally hits theaters this weekend. Before it did, the cast made one more major stop to celebrate.

Directed by Michael Showalter, the film follows Dakota Johnson as Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer hired to complete the remaining books in a series by renowned author Verity Crawford, played by Hathaway, after a mysterious accident. Josh Hartnett co-stars as Verity’s husband, Jeremy, who brings Lowen into the family’s increasingly dark world.

Hathaway, Hartnett, and Showalter joined ‘The Morning Mash Up’ hosts Ryan and Nicole on SiriusXM Hits 1 for an exclusive ‘Front Row’ event at the company’s New York City studios. According to SiriusXM, the conversation touched on everything from Taylor Swift and Dolly Parton to Tom Cruise.

Photos from the event, shared by JumpTrailers, show Hathaway beaming as she arrived and laughing on set in front of the Hits 1 logo. She kept her look effortlessly chic in a black blazer layered over a black top, paired with relaxed blue jeans and a statement gold chain necklace. Fans who want to hear the full chat won’t have to wait long. The special airs on SiriusXM Hits 1 and the SiriusXM app starting Friday, October 2, at 8 am ET.

The radio appearance caps off a whirlwind week for the actress. Hathaway, who is currently expecting her third child, also made headlines this week with a sheer maternity look featuring a built-in window for her baby bump during a New York appearance.

She’s taken on a big role behind the scenes, too. Hathaway serves as a producer on the film alongside Showalter, Hoover, and screenwriter Nick Antosca, while Johnson is an executive producer.

All that promotion appears to be paying off. Tracking has the film on course for a strong debut, with Global Box Office reporting outstanding walk-up business and Friday sales that put it on track for a $25 million to $32 million domestic opening.

That would likely make it the No. 1 film of the weekend, ahead of Tom Cruise’s ‘Digger’. It would also hand Hathaway her third No. 1 opening of the year, following ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ and ‘The Odyssey’.

Reviews have been far less enthusiastic. ‘Verity’ holds a 41% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, and The Hollywood Reporter’s review argued the stars fail to make the most of what it called a dumb mystery.

Still, the source material carries serious weight. Hoover self-published the novel in 2018 before Grand Central Publishing acquired it in 2021, and the book sold more than 1 million copies in 2023 alone. That passionate readership could easily outweigh any negative reviews.

From red carpets to radio studios, Hathaway has been a joyful presence throughout the ‘Verity’ campaign. Her laughter-filled visit to SiriusXM offered one final burst of energy before audiences decide for themselves. With the film now in theaters, all eyes turn to how it performs over its first weekend.
