Apple TV has rolled out its new comedy ‘Brothers’, and the lineup pairs two real life best friends with a supporting ensemble built around a fictional family secret. As Woody turns the ranch upside down to uncover the truth about their possible shared parentage, Matthew finds himself dealing with a different identity crisis as he runs for Governor of Texas. That storyline runs alongside the central mystery and gives McConaughey’s character his own arc separate from the brothers plot.

McConaughey and Harrelson also executive produce the series alongside showrunner Lee Eisenberg. The two men have a long history on screen together, having previously shared the screen in the first season of ‘True Detective’, and their real friendship is described as the raw material for the new show.

Woody Harrelson

Harrelson’s character sees his daughter’s wedding fall apart, prompting him to pack up his family and head to Austin for an extended stay at Matthew’s ranch. That relocation sets the entire season in motion once old secrets start surfacing at the ranch.

Harrelson joined McConaughey and the rest of the ensemble cast at the Hammer Museum premiere ahead of the show’s global debut. Like his co-star, he holds an executive producer credit on the series in addition to starring in it.

Holland Taylor

Natalie Martinez

Natalie Martinez plays Valentina, a character described as part of the extended family unit at the center of the season. Her casting was part of the same wave of announcements that brought Taylor and Ishibashi onto the show.

Production on the series began by November 2024 and included scenes shot in Austin, Texas, though it was later suspended in June 2025 amid a change in creative direction that saw original creator David West Read exit and Lee Eisenberg step in as showrunner. Ishibashi’s character remained part of the cast through that transition.

The younger members of the cast round out the household as well.
