‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Is Setting Up Tobey Maguire’s and Andrew Garfield’s Return in ‘Spider-Man 4’
As far as Marvel superheroes are concerned, we know that Spider-Man is the one superhero with the most complex story, as the rights to the character belong to Sony and not Marvel Studios. This is why the earlier Spider-Man movies were unrelated to the main MCU movies, but when Tom Holland took over the role, Sony and Marvel collaborated on three movies starring Holland.
We know that the last of these three movies, Spider-Man: No Way Home, saw the return of both Tobey Maguire’s and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man, as all three Spider-Men united in a multiversal story which also featured the return of various older Spider-Man villains. The movie was a massive success and fans think that Marvel should do the same thing in the fourth Spider-Man movie as well.
Namely, we know that Marvel is working on Spider-Man 4 and many fans want to see Maguire and Garfield come back to their roles. Based on what we know about Marvel’s upcoming plans, the studio has a perfect and pretty benign way to bring back all three actors once again!
As far as the future of the Spider-Man franchise is concerned, Kevin Feige confirmed, back in July, that Spider-Man 4 is being worked on and that the film will definitely be made:
“Amy [Pascal] and I are working on it. We have writers who are going to be delivering us a draft relatively soon.”

Now, we have recently reported how the script was undergoing some changes and that Kingpin was ultimately removed from the movie – which hit a lot of fans hard – but that does not have to mean that the movie won’t work, especially if Marvel does decide to keep all three Spider-Men. With Doomsday and Secret Wars coming up, the studio also has a brilliant way of doing that.
Namely, if the fourth Spider-Man movie is released in 2026 – and there is a possibility – and ends up being set after Doomsday, Marvel could indeed bring back Maguire and Garfield for another movie. Namely, if Doctor Doom sends the heroes to Battleworld after Doomsday, and it seems likely that that is going to happen, then that means that the multiversal element will be preserved.
If Spider-Man 4 ends up being set on Battleworld, Marvel can simply bring back Maguire and Garfield and they will have an absolutely amazing Spider-Man 4. Of course, this is just a theory based on what we know, but here’s to it becoming reality!
