‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ Is Beating ‘Superman’ and ‘Dune: Part Two’ in Overseas Presales

Theatrical re-releases rarely generate genuine box office suspense, especially for a film audiences have already watched and rewatched for years. Yet Marvel’s decision to bring back its 2019 blockbuster with new footage tied directly into December’s “Avengers: Doomsday” has turned this particular rerelease into something closer to a real event, at least judging by how quickly international presales have been climbing.

That momentum has been especially notable in China, where “Avengers: Endgame Encore” spent its first two weeks restricted to under 100 screenings before expanding significantly ahead of its September 25 re-release, with previews scheduled for September 24. According to box office tracking shared by industry analyst Luiz Fernando, presales for the Chinese market have now expanded to 11,000 screenings as of this past Friday, with the rerelease’s cumulative presale total for the September 24-27 window reaching $342,000.

That $342,000 figure places “Endgame Encore” well ahead of several other major titles’ China presale totals during comparable windows, based on the same tracking data. “Superman” reportedly posted $22,000 in presales, while “F1” brought in $36,000, “Dune: Part Two” reached $87,000, and “Apes” came in at $91,000. “Aquaman 2” tracked at $97,000, “The Flash” at $125,000, and “Godzilla x Kong” at $142,000.

Further up the list, “The Batman” reportedly posted $175,000 in China presales, “Deadpool and Wolverine” reached $221,000, and “Captain America: Brave New World” led the comparison group with a $346,000 presale kickoff, a number “Endgame Encore” is closing in on with six days still remaining before its full release window closes out.

According to the same tracking, the presale totals broke down day by day as follows: $126,000 for Thursday, September 24 previews; $195,000 for Friday, September 25’s rerelease opening day; $14,000 for Saturday, September 26; and $7,500 for Sunday, September 27. That structure suggests opening day previews and the official Friday release are driving the vast majority of early ticket sales so far.
