‘Avengers: Endgame’ May Be Disappearing From Disney+ Right Before Its Big Theatrical Comeback

Marvel fans have spent years treating Disney+ as the easiest way to revisit the Infinity Saga whenever the mood strikes, with ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ sitting comfortably in the catalog since the platform’s early days. That kind of on-demand access has become such a given for MCU fans that the idea of the film simply vanishing feels almost unthinkable.

That expectation is now being tested by a new theatrical push tied to the film’s tenth Doomsday-era relaunch. Marvel confirmed during its San Diego Comic-Con 2026 presentation that ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is heading back to theaters under a new title, positioning the re-release as a proper theatrical event rather than a simple nostalgia screening.

According to an unconfirmed rumor circulating online, that theatrical push may come with a temporary cost for streaming subscribers. The claim suggests ‘Avengers: Endgame’ will be pulled from Disney+’s catalog starting in September, only to return in early November rebranded as ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore,’ the same title Marvel has given the theatrical re-release.

While the streaming removal remains unverified, the theatrical side of the story is well documented. ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ is set to hit theaters worldwide on September 25, roughly twelve weeks ahead of ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ which arrives December 18 with Robert Downey Jr. returning to the franchise as Doctor Doom.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have been clear that this isn’t just a straight replay of the 2019 cut. The re-release adds a custom introduction, additional new footage said to tie directly into the story of ‘Doomsday,’ and a special end tag, though that final piece is reportedly exclusive to screens certified under Disney’s new Infinity Vision program and IMAX presentations.

Runtime reports have varied throughout the summer, with some outlets citing as much as seven additional minutes of footage while more recent reporting, based on official theater listings, points to a shorter four-minute addition. Either way, the added content is being framed less as bonus material and more as a genuine bridge connecting Endgame’s ending to where ‘Doomsday’ picks up.

If the Disney+ removal rumor holds up, the logic behind it isn’t hard to follow. Temporarily taking ‘Endgame’ off the streaming service would remove the easiest free alternative to seeing the film, pushing more fans toward theaters during the exact window Disney is trying to build momentum for both the re-release and the Infinity Vision format itself.

That kind of strategic scarcity wouldn’t be unprecedented for Disney, a studio with a long history of using timed availability to drive both theatrical and home viewing decisions. With Infinity Vision positioned as the debut showcase format for both ‘Endgame Encore’ and ‘Doomsday,’ getting as many eyes as possible into certified theaters this fall appears to be a clear priority.
