Batgirl: Michael Keaton Teases His Return As Batman With New Photo

We already wrote and shared our excitement for the return of Michael Keaton as Batman in the upcoming Batgirl movie how many times before. Keaton, who played the titular hero in Tim Burton’s 1989 movie Batman, and 1992’s Batman Returns. After Returns, Keaton walked out from the role after Joel Schumacher took over the Batman franchise, and we all know how that ended. But now, more than 3 decades after, Keaton is back in the Batsuit.
Keaton’s return was first announced for the upcoming movie The Flash, which will land in theaters in November this year. The fans were thrilled when they heard that Keaton will return, and his return will probably be explained thanks to Flash’s abilities or messing with the Multiverse, space, time, and all that stuff. But, later it turned out that the return of Keaton’s Batman won’t be just a one-time thing. Keaton will also reprise the role in the upcoming Batgirl movie, which is currently in production and is set to debut exclusively on HBOMax by the end of this year.
Considering that The Flash movie will mark the return of Keaton, it is expected that the Batgirl movie will be released after that, so we’re expecting to watch it in late 2022, or maybe even 2023, if the movie gets delayed, considering there’s still no official release date.
Leslie Grace will star in the titular role in the Batgirl movie. She will play Barbara Gordon, daughter of Commissioner Gordon, who will be played once again by J.K. Simmons, who is reprising his role from Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Simmons was set to star in the Batman movie starring Ben Affleck, but we know that Affleck has quit that project, and Matt Reeves reshaped it into a new reboot with Robert Pattinson as Batman and Jeffrey Wright as Gordon.
What’s interesting, Simmons will now be a Gordon to Keaton’s Batman, and not to Affleck’s as it was initially planned. Oh Barry, what have you done this time (pun intended)?
