Ben Affleck Reportedly in Discussions to Join the MCU

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is busy with many upcoming projects, leading to a lot of casting activities lately. There’s talk that Ben Affleck might join the cast. He’s recently stepped back from playing Batman, a big superhero role.

This rumor is from Daniel Richtman, who’s known in the industry and has been right before. We don’t know yet which role Affleck might play, but we can rule out a few possibilities.

You might be thinking Affleck will be back as a different Daredevil in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ with Garner’s Elektra, as the movie is getting reshoots for more cameos. But that’s not true, as Richtman clarified in a Patreon comment that Affleck won’t be Daredevil again. I find it tough to believe Affleck is joining the MCU anyway, even though this rumor’s been around for a year. He’s said before he’s done with superhero movies.

After the troubled production of ‘Justice League,’ Affleck quit the role and declined to both star in and direct another Batman movie. James Gunn once mentioned he was discussing a project with Affleck, but Affleck denied it, stating he’s not keen on working on DCU projects under the current leadership. However, things change over time, and considering it’s been a while since the ‘Justice League’ mess, he might have had a change of heart.
