‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is generating significant anticipation as one of the most exciting upcoming projects in the MCU. Scheduled for release in 2024, it’s already drawing praise from those who have seen previews, with expectations high for its impact on the franchise’s reputation.

As with any highly anticipated project, rumors abound regarding potential cameos, variants, and plot elements, with some confirmations, such as Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, and others still under speculation, supported by mounting evidence. To provide clarity, let’s explore the confirmed and rumored cameos and variants expected in the film.

Aaron Stanford – John Allerdyce/Pyro (Confirmed)

Aaron Stanford’s return was initially speculated, along with a few other minor X-Men villains, though his appearance was later confirmed in the trailer. While he only briefly appears on screen, his unmistakable costume leaves no doubt about his identity. Earlier this year, he had denied any involvement in the movie.

Toad (Confirmed)

Similarly, there were rumors of Toad’s presence in the movie, which were validated by leaked set photos; however, it remains uncertain if Ray Park will return to portray him. Toad’s association with the Fantasticar spotted on set suggests a possible connection to Cassandra Nova and The Void.

Tyler Mane – Sabertooth (Confirmed)

Sabertooth’s presence was also unveiled in the same set of images that featured Toad. These images show Sabertooth in a battle with Wolverine, followed by Deadpool holding his decapitated head aloft. It appears that the rendition of Sabertooth played by Tyler Mane in 2000’s ‘X-Men’ will be featured, although there is speculation regarding the potential inclusion of Liev Schreiber’s portrayal from ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine.’

Dogpool, Babypool, Kidpool and Headpool (Confirmed)

The leaked merchandise for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ has provided a sneak peek at various Deadpool variants expected to feature in the film, including Dogpool, Babypool, Kidpool, and Headpool. Dogpool has garnered significant attention, even boasting his own social media presence and regular appearances on Ryan Reynolds’ Instagram.

Lady Deadpool (Rumored)

Lady Deadpool stands out as one of the prominent Deadpool variants in the comics, which likely explains her frequent association with the movie. However, despite her significance, official promotional materials consistently overlook her variant. There are ongoing rumors speculating that Taylor Swift or Blake Lively might portray Lady Deadpool.

Henry Cavill – Wolverine variant (Rumored)

Recent rumors have emerged suggesting that Cavill will depict a variant of Wolverine in the film. The source indicates that this portrayal is a one-time occurrence, and Cavill will not return as Wolverine in the MCU. However, he may still appear as a different character altogether, given the Multiversal aspect of the movie.

Jennifer Garner – Elektra (Confirmed)

Jennifer Garner’s unexpected return as Elektra in ‘Deadpool 3’ caught many fans by surprise. Renowned for her performance in 2003’s ‘Daredevil’ and its spin-off, ‘Elektra,’ Garner’s role in the movie is rumored to be a cameo. Specifics regarding how she’ll interact with other legacy heroes from previous Marvel films in the MCU remain undisclosed.

Patrick Stewart – Charles Xavier/Professor X (Confirmed)

Patrick Stewart was placed on standby in case he was needed to reprise his role in the MCU. Confirming months of speculation, his involvement in the movie was officially announced just weeks before its release.

Ian McKellen – Magneto (Rumored)

Speculation suggests that Ian McKellen could reprise his role as Magneto in ‘Deadpool 3,’ potentially alongside the rumored return of Professor X. This would signify McKellen’s debut portrayal of the character in the MCU. Notably, Patrick Stewart hinted at plans to reunite with McKellen as their mutant characters in a February 2023 interview. Given McKellen’s connections to Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, as well as his possible cameo in ‘Doctor Strange 2,’ his appearance in ‘Deadpool 3’ would not be unexpected.

Halle Berry – Storm (Rumored)

Storm is undeniably one of the most prevalent rumors circulating, not only concerning ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ but also other MCU and animated ventures. Speculation was ignited by MTTSH regarding Halle Berry’s potential return as Storm in ‘Deadpool 3,’ marking her first appearance since 2014’s ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past.’ Given Berry’s previous five portrayals of the weather-manipulating mutant and her haircut reminiscent of Storm’s, the possibility of her involvement in the film gains credibility.

Channing Tatum – Gambit (Rumored)

Channing was set to star in his own Gambit solo movie until it got canceled, leaving him disappointed. Recently, Jackman and Tatum hinted at his role in the MCU through an Instagram post.

James Marsden – Cyclops (Rumored)

Fans feel that ‘X-Men’ failed to do justice to Marsden’s Cyclops, and they hope he’ll make an appearance in the upcoming movie. In a recent interview, Marsden neither confirmed nor denied his involvement in the film, but he did mention shooting ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ near the set of ‘Deadpool 3.’

Famke Janssen – Jean Grey (Rumored)

The rumor about Famke Janssen generated significant buzz when it first surfaced, and many fans thought it would be logical to include her. However, Famke recently denied her involvement in the movie, so it’s probably not happening.

Daniel Radcliffe – Wolverine variant (Rumored)

Similar to Henry Cavill, there have been rumors about Radcliffe playing a Wolverine variant, as reported by Daniel Richtman a while back.

Natalia Tena – X-23 Variant (Rumored)

A few weeks ago, rumors surfaced about Natalia Tena joining the MCU, with reports suggesting she had already filmed her scenes. Last week, confirmation arrived that she had indeed been cast as the X-23 variant. However, we’ll have to wait for the movie for 100% confirmation.

Callisto (Confirmed)

Cassandra Nova makes her home within the massive decomposed head of Ant-Man. In a wide shot, various characters, including Callisto, are visible, suggesting their presence in the movie. Callisto, famous for her rivalry with Storm in ‘X-Men: The Last Stand,’ is identifiable by her features in the scene. It’s speculated that she will be portrayed by Dania Ramirez.

Lady Deathstrike (Confirmed)

Kelly Hu is returning to her role as Lady Deathstrike in the upcoming film. In ‘X2’ from 2003, she played a brainwashed mutant under William Stryker’s command. Despite being injected with Adamantium by Wolverine, a lethal substance, it seems she has managed to recover. Her presence in the film suggests she may either seek revenge against Wolverine or assist the anti-heroes.

Azazel (Confirmed)

Jason Flemyng is confirmed to return as Azazel in the upcoming movie. His reprisal of the role was announced in the trailer, sparking excitement among fans who are anticipating the mix of mutants in Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s film.

Hunter B-15 (Rumored)

After the conclusion of the ‘Loki’ series, it was expected that some TVA characters would return. According to Cosmic Circus, Hunter-B15, portrayed by Wunmi Mosaku, will be reprising her role. The extent of her involvement, whether it’s a minor role or just a cameo, remains uncertain. It could go either way.

Human Torch (Rumored)

There’s another rumored cameo that, while it may seem unlikely, is actually quite plausible. The appearance of the Fantasticar on set and in the trailer adds weight to this speculation. Additionally, Chris Evans, who played the Human Torch and is rumored to appear in the movie, has a history of making frequent appearances in Reynolds’ films.

Sticky Fingaz as Blade (Confirmed)

Recent stills from the film have confirmed that Blade will make an appearance in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ However, it won’t be Wesley Snipes, who portrayed Blade in three movies, nor Mahershala Ali, who is set to star in the upcoming ‘Blade’ reboot. Instead, it will be the third Blade, a version that many fans might not be familiar with—Sticky Fingaz.

This confirmed cameo underscores that the movie will feature various variants from different Marvel films over the years.
