The Sims games are still one of the most popular simulators in the world. The potential of world-building got much higher after fans of the game started modding their Sims worlds. However, besides the usual Sims humans that we have in the game, we also have Sims pets. In this article, we will list our picks for the 20 best pet CC & mods in the Sims 4 game.
As you know, Sims pets got introduced to the Sims world in 2002, when the expansion for original game has been released, called The Sims: Unleashed. Since then, the pets consistently started appearing in the Sims world and gave even more inspiration to modders. 1. Working Pet Water Bowls (Cats & Dogs)
This CC is really cool. LittleMsSam made working pet water bowls for both cats and dogs. They particularly added two Fill bowl Interactions:
- if you own a Laundry Stuff pack and have one of the objects like a washing machine, dryer, or something else, you will get a pitcher animation for filling the bowls.
- if you don’t have that pack, your animation will look like you are watering plants.

This is one of the best Sims mods on the internet. Maxis made a mistake by not letting us control the pets in the Sims 4 game even though we could in Sims 3. However, modders are always here to help us, so they decided to make a mod that will let us control the pets. The mod hasn’t been updated since 2019 but it is still a viable mod that lets you peek into The Sims 3 pet experience even for a bit.
4. Three-Legged Pets
The Sims game always offered most of the real-life experience features which were one of the reasons a lot of fans stuck with it for so many years. Even though we got pets in the official Cats & Dogs expansion, we didn’t get handicapped pets that are definitely part of our real-life lives. Modder Wyattsims heard fans’ wishes and made the Three-Legged Pets mod where you can create your cute handicapped pets.
The modder even provided us with two variations where you can choose which leg is handicapped. This is only a cosmetic mod. Definitely check it out if you’re interested.
5. Pets Eye Modification
Wyattsims came through again and provided us with another mod for handicapped pets. This one includes pets with only one eye. It is simple – a cosmetic add-on that can be found in accessories while customizing pets. Do you want to replicate your real-life pet with a handicap or maybe create Hawkeye’s Lucky the Pizzadog? The creator also says that your pet can wear accessories like shoes, collars, and more with this mod being on.
6. Superman/Batman Shirts Pets
We would not be Fiction Horizon if we did not add a few nerdy CCs for Sim’s pets. As the title of the CC says, this mod is a two-part where one provides you with a Superman themes pet shirt, while the other provides you with Batman shirts. It is cool, it is fun, and your furry friend will look really adorable. Definitely check out this mod.
7. Cutie Pie Cat Eyes
Cats have really beautiful eyes and even though Maxis added some cool features for pet customization, they did not recreate the beautiful eyes cats have in real life. This CC is pretty straightforward – a feature that offers you realistic cat eyes in 10 colors. So, when you want to customize your kitten, definitely think of this mod, it is really cool!
8. Go For A Walk With More Pets
Modder LittleMsSam is back on this list, and won’t be the last time. But first, let’s talk about this mod. In the main game, pets could only be walked one by one, and if you have more than one pet… well, that is annoying. What modder made another “go for a walk” menu under Pet Care Pie menu. You can choose how long will you walk them – 30, 60, or 120 minutes.
The creator recommends going to the “Spawn” point at your Lot and calling your pets over before the start of using this mod.
9. Functional Chicken Coop
If you do not have money to spend on the fairly recent Sims 4 official game expansion called The Sims 4: Cottage Living, you should definitely use a CC from the user called IceMunMun. They made a whole functional chicken coop, with various features added in the last few years.
The interactions include “Buy Chickens”, “Set up Coop”, “Feed Chickens”, “Collect the Eggs”, “Check for Eggs”, “Look for Easter Eggs” and so much more. We knew that Sims mods and CCs can be really realistic but this one blew our mind. With every single expansion, this mod is updated including the recent one Cottage Living.
10. Train your Puppies
As we already announced, the user LittleMsSam is back on the list! This time they decided to make a mod with the ability for the Sims to train their puppies. This mod only works for young pets (obviously) when you can easily train them. The mod adds another option called Training and selects one out of four commands: Sit, Lie Down, Speak, Heel.

11. Pets Seasons package
TheKalino made one of the cutest CCs available for Sims 4. They made hats, sunglasses, scarfs, and caps for all pets. This CC also offers one new outfit for cats, two new outfits for small and big dogs, a beach bed, and new shoes for all pets.
This cute CC brings players even more immersion into the Sims world, and if they want to make their pets cool, there are more than enough features in this CC.
12. Small Pets Mod
The expansion released in 2020, The Sims 4: My First Pet Stuff came with new animals, this time small pets. It included rats, pygmy hedgehogs, and hamsters. However, that was not enough for some fans and TheKalino decided to create and add a few more small pets in the game.

Do you have Sims kids that want to show the rest of the Sims world they absolutely love their furry friends? Download this CC by TitusLinde who took their time and made “I Love Animals” bracelets for the kids. There are multiple styles from doggies, cats, and animals like elephants illustrations on the bracelets, and in total, this package has four different versions of these bracelets.
15. Quick Walk (with the Dog)
Modder LittleMsSam is back with another cool mod. They created a new interaction where you can go on a quick walk with your Sims and their dog. These are the steps you need to go through to activate this interaction:

- Go for a walk command
- Quick walk
The mod is programmed to automatically take the shortest way/path during the walk. Yes, it is kind of rude to your lovely pets but sometimes even Sims do not have time.
16. Service Dog Harnesses and Bandanas
As you maybe already noticed, we love realistic CCs and mods that reflect real life and this CC is one of them. The most beautiful part of having animals is that some of them are used for noble causes like dogs in this case that part of the police force, firefighters, and more. This particular CC is referring to service dogs – you can customize your pets to look like service dogs!
This mod is made by Sturmfalke – they recolored vests in inspiration to Service Dogs their friends have. A heartwarming story that fits greatly with the nature of this mod.
17. Sims Traits Pack for Cats & Dogs
Most of this list is positive – cute pets, adorable clothes, great mods that expand the Sims Pets universe, and all-around good vibes. However, this modder decided to go further in the realistic department. They decided to make negative traits for Sims 4. Before we enumerate this mod’s features we need to emphasize that you need to have a Sims 4 expansion called Cats & Dogs.
First, you can add the possibility of your Sims being allergic to Fur (cats and dogs). When the Sims are close to the pet, they get an Uncomfortable Buff. Sims then gets the animation of sneezing and grumbling. This interaction will repeat maybe twice during Sims one hour. New interactions were added and the Sims can complain to others or check on the computer how to treat allergy symptoms.
The Sims can also hate animals (cats and dogs). When near them, Sims gets an Angry Buff, with the option to even argue about the animals, and be mean about dogs and cats!
There is also Afraid of the animal’s perk. Tense Buff appears while your Sims is really close to the animal. However, there is a possibility of your Sims being able to build a relationship with the pet they are afraid of. They can also talk about their fear of animals, warn about animals nearby and receive different buffs regarding those interactions. A great realistic mod that you should definitely check out!
18. Small Pets
TheKalino brings another package of new small animals. This time the package includes a mini pig, tortoise, giant day gecko, flying squirrel, iguana, chameleon, long ear rabbit, bartagame, leopard gecko, and skink. 19. Foster Family
This mod is really amazing. Besides this mod giving you the option to foster children, you can also foster pets. There are multiple features we are going to list here, and if you are interested, definitely check the provided link under the photo.
Some of the features include (particularly for fostering pets):
- Register at Foster Family Network for Foster Pets
- Unregister from Foster Family Network for Foster Pets
- Check the Foster Family Network for Foster Pets (usable once per Day)
