The Sims is a series of simulation video games developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. The series is most famous for its highly immersive open-ended gameplay and sandbox elements. The first entry in the franchise was SimCity developed and published in 1989. In the Sims, the player controls a character in order to simulate life through building relationships, taking part in everyday activities, getting a job, hobbies, and other activities. The Sims is a highly successful video-game franchise that spawned multiple spin-offs related to the original concept.
