This sci-fi action drama tells the story of a mysterious criminal who wants to destroy America by changing the past with the help of a time machine he has stolen. But it won’t be so easy for him since a trio of unlikely heroes will try and stop him.

A scientist, a soldier and a history professor must use the machine’s prototype to travel back to these critical events but also be careful and not change the course of past events. While trying not to change anything, they also need to be one step ahead of this dangerous fugitive.

Homecoming (2018 – 2020)

This interesting drama thriller follows Heidi who works at Homecoming, an organisation that helps soldiers make a successful transition to civilian life. She decides to quit her job and leave but years after this decision, the Department of Defence is starting to ask questions.

They want to know why she left Homecoming and Heidi also starts asking herself what lead her to that decision. She soon realises that there is a whole other story behind the ones she is constantly telling herself.

The OA (2016 – 2019)

This fantasy mystery introduces us to Prairie Johnson who makes a shocking reappearance after being away for seven years. She has been missing for these seven years and as if it wasn’t strange enough to see her back home, there is another even more mysterious fact connected to her appearance.

She was a blind girl, but now in her late twenties, she has her sight fully restored. People are divided regarding her case and while some believe she is a miracle, others think she might be dangerous. 

Travelers (2016 – 2018)

This is one of the most inventive and intriguing sci-fi series from the past decade. It is a complex story of getting into someone’s mind by sending consciousness from the future. Hundred years from now, the last surviving humans discovered the means to do it with the people from the 21st century.

They choose random individuals who are about to die and inhabit them with their consciousness. The travelers are FBI special agent Grant MacLaren, Marcy, a young and intellectual disabled woman, Trevor, a high school jock, Carly, a single mother and Philip, a heroin addict. The travelers will soon realise that the present is very complicated.

The Society (2019)

This sci-fi thriller introduces us to the teen population of the town of West Ham, Connecticut who are the ones that remained after the rest of the inhabitants of their wealthy little town mysteriously vanished. They will be forced to run their own community when they find out what happened to their families and friends.

It all happened when they returned from a cancelled field trip and found a town without no connection to the outer world. Surrounded by a dense forest and without a telephone or Internet, the youngsters will have to come up with their own rules to survive the unimaginable.

Electric Dreams (2017 – )

This is a sci-fi anthology series based on the stories of one of the greatest science fiction writers ever, Philip K.Dick. These are standalone episodes and each of them covers a different topic set mostly in the future.

Fringe (2008 – 2013)

In this brilliant sci-fi mystery drama, the FBI teams up with a scientist who used to perform experiments on the fringe of real science and his son. They want to investigate weird crimes that seemingly belong to a bigger pattern.

All the inhabitants of Inland are given the opportunity to go through The Process to make it to Offshore and lead a better life there but only 3% of them actually manage to do it.

Blindspot (2015 – 2020)

This is a sci-fi mystery thriller drama about a woman who can’t remember anything from her past. She is found naked in Times Square and her body is fully covered in interesting tattoos. The FBI is immediately drawn to her case, full of mysteries and inexplicable events.

They begin to follow the road map of the tattoos on her body and find out there is a much larger conspiracy of crime behind it. She is also getting closer to finding out everything about her true identity.

Glitch (2015 – 2019)

Glitch is an Australian sci-fi horror drama that follows an interesting discovery made by a small-town police officer who is called out to the local cemetery in the middle of the night. The discovery is more than shocking.

He finds out that there are six people who have risen from the dead in perfect health, but with no memory. They will attempt to resolve who brought them to the grave. This show was loosely based on the brilliant French tv series Les Revenants.

Lost In Space (2018 – 2021)

Lost in Space is a sci-fi mystery drama set 30 years in the future where colonisation in space is now a reality. The family Robinson is one of the tested and selected to make a new life for themselves in this more promising world.

But things won’t go as planned when they find themselves off course and have to make new alliances in order to survive in a dangerous alien environment. Together with the Robinsons, there are two outsiders, the charismatic manipulator Dr Smith and the charming Don West, both of them with their own intriguing personal agendas.

Hellbound (2021 – )

This is a South Korean mystery horror thriller about alien beings who appear out of nowhere to condemn individuals to hell. This will create great mayhem and at the same time enable the religious group The New Truth to become more influential.

The Shannara Chronicles (2016 – 2017)

In this fantasy drama, we are introduced to Amberle Elessedil who is the only one who can save an Elvish tree, known as Ellcrys. The tree is dying and it is the only piece of magic that protects the Four Lands from the Demon World.

Firefly (2002 – 2003)

One of the most beloved and iconic sci-fi shows of all time is this unforgettable space tale set five hundred years in the future. Created by Joss Whedon, with Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk in leading roles, it tells the story of a starship Serenity and its crew.

Captain Mal Reynolds and his crew are travelling across the outskirts of outer space, meeting memorable individuals and getting themselves into numerous dangerous adventures. They are in fact renegades who are trying to survive and escape authority agents chasing them.

Battlestar Galactica (2004 – 2009)

Another classic among sci-fi series is this adventure drama about a fleet of refugees led by Commander Adama of the Battlestar Galactica and President Laura Roslin. They are set to find the thirteenth colony after the Twelve Colonies have been destroyed in the second war against the Cylons. 

They will have to fight numerous dangerous opponents, including the Cylons hunting and attacking them in space. While running away and trying to avoid the dangers, it will become more obvious and clear that Commander Adama bluff about finding Earth might be more than just a hunch.

This is a Chinese television gem based on the events in the late Eastern Han Dynasty and the Three Kingdoms period. It is a historical war drama based on a classical novel called Romance of the Three Kingdoms and a few historical text records and many related stories.

It is a story of rivalry, wars and intrigues set in the mentioned period and it gives us an impeccable insight into this interesting historical period.

Night Sky (2022)

Sissy Spacek and J.K.Simmons play leading roles in this tv-show, portraying Franklin and Irene York, a couple with a huge secret they swore to keep between them.
