Billie Eilish called out the ultra-wealthy during her award acceptance speech on Wednesday night, directly addressing billionaires in the audience, including Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg.

The singer was honored at the WSJ Magazine Innovator Awards for her impact on the music industry and used the moment to speak about wealth and giving back, according to People magazine.

Eilish revealed that she plans to donate $11.5 million from her “Hit Me Hard and Soft” tour to The Changemaker Program, which tackles climate change and food insecurity. In her speech, she urged anyone with money to help those in need. “Use it for good things and give it to some people that need it,” she said.

She didn’t hold back when addressing billionaires. “Love you all, but there’s a few people in here that have a lot more money than me. If you are a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but give your money away, shorties,” Eilish added.

Zuckerberg, who is the fifth-richest person in the world with a net worth of $226 billion, attended the event in support of his wife, Priscilla Chan, who was recognized for her philanthropy. An eyewitness told People that while Eilish’s comments prompted quiet laughter and applause from the crowd, Zuckerberg did not join in.

Eilish’s message highlights her belief in using wealth to create positive change. It also sparked conversation about the responsibility of the ultra-rich to contribute to society. What do you think about her call to action? Share your thoughts in the comments.
