Black Adam: New Images Are Giving Us The Best Look Yet On Dwayne Johnson’s Character

Black Adam is one of the most anticipated DC movies. After years and years of development hell, Dwayne The Rock Johnson finally got the chance to put on the suit of the famous DC anti-hero. As the movie is closing in, Total FIlm released new official behind-the-scene images that are giving us a brand new look at the titular character. Finally, images on which we can see him all suited up.

Dwayne Johnson expressed the wish to play Black Adam back in 2007. In 2014, when DCEU was in its planning stage after the release of Man of Steel, Johnson announced that he’d play Black Adam once that project starts moving forward. Since then, the project went through several circles of development hell until Jaume Collet-Serra, who worked with Johnson on Jungle Cruise, signed to direct.

And then, more problems. The movie’s initial release date was set for December 2022, but after the pandemic delayed the production of Johnson’s Red Notice, there was no way the filming of Black Adam could start in summer 2020, as it was initially planned. Warner Bros. pulled the movie from the schedule, and soon after set a new release date – July 29, 2022.

Dwayne Johnson is playing Teth-Adam, also known as Black Adam, an anti-hero from Kahndaq. He shares the powers with Shazam, and although it was announced that Zachary Levi’s character won’t appear in the Black Adam movie, reports are saying they’re saving that showdown for Shazam 3. Considering that Shazam 2 – Fury of the Gods – will be released in summer 2023, there will be a lot more waiting before we see these two characters together on screen.

Black Adam movie will also introduce Doctor Fate (portrayed by Pierce Brosnan), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Adrianna Tomaz (Sarah Shahi), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), and Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) into DC Extended Universe.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, and starring Dwayne Johnson, Black Adam will be released on July 29, 2022.
